It's not done yet. Surprise!

Sorry it's taking so long. I've been blindsided by school and Borderlands 2. Hopefully, it'll be done by ~~Friday~~ whenever it gets done, but until then, here's a little preview:

With a flick of her tail, Applejack finally swatted one of the many mosquitoes that had been hovering around her rump for the past two hours. It wasn’t the first bug she’d downed that morning, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. The insects of Blackburr Forest were frustratingly aggressive, far more so than those of any other part of Equestria, and it was starting to further an already heavy toll on her sanity, a toll that had been taken by at least two other things

The first of these things was the lie of omission she was currently forcing herself to tell her friends, a task Applejack found to be exceptionally draining. Just throwing somepony a surprise birthday party was next to impossible for her, and now, she had to withhold information that her friends might actually need to know. She could barely get through a conversation without insisting to the other party that she had nothing to hide.

The second member of this inharmonious duo was Twilight’s recent bereavement, and all the complications that surrounded it. It couldn’t have been easy to deal with. Losing your mentor, not knowing whether one of your oldest friends was dead or alive, having some impossible quest thrust upon you immediately after receiving the news... It choked Applejack up just thinking about it. After last night’s speech—followed by the longest, most palpably silent six hours of driving Equestria had ever seen—Applejack knew she had to do something to cheer her friend up. And that thing, she’d decided, was going to be apple pie.
