At least, somebody said so. The featured box certainly seems to be showing it.
To be honest, I was pretty surprised (and more than a little enthused) to see Inoculation take off as it has. Though between other Feature-box-bait stories like An Orderly Transfer of Power and/or Twilight Sort-Of Kills Her Friends, apparently random insanity is 'in' this week. Who knew?
Again, it's funny, as Inoculation honestly is something I'm working on mostly off the cuff. It is, like the vast majority of my stories, just an excuse to have some ponies banter back and forth for the sake of silly and obscure jokes. Which, admittedly, is kind of what I do. I suppose it's a return to form after slightly different stuff like The Prisoner of Zebra, which I'm actually planning on finishing at some point, for the three of you who actually care. :)
The other funny thing about Inoculation is that it ... may be one of the more continuity-heavy of my stories. Kinda. Mostly 'cause I tossed off a reference to my EQG stories, and (spoiler alert!) there's prolly gonna be some Rarijack by the time it's all over. Then again, I maintain Rarijack is kinda-sorta-canon by this point, but I digress.
Also! Speaking of spoilers, a few folks have mentioned the natural progression of the story to involve the 'Bad Guys Turned Good' to serve as opposition. Which, well, I may play around with ... but on the other hand, I have absolutely no idea what to do with Starlight Glimmer, or the Dazzlings or maybe even Trixie. So, um, don't expect to see them show up in the story. Sorry?
I might work Luna in, though, 'cause she's fucking metal.
Objection!
I didn't write Orderly Transfer with the intention of blowing up the Featured list. In fact I didn't expect it to even show, and I certainly didn't expect it to show practically the instant I released it.
I was inspired by a prompt for FoME's contest and ran with it. That's all.
(If I was trying to write Featured-bait, it'd flop. The story would be something about how Fluttershy and Applejack find love while trying to escape their imprisonment in the human world by a mad-with-power Rarity. Along the way they'd have to protect Twilight Sparkle, who's been reduced to infancy Because Reasons. And at some point they're all saved from certain death from a rooftop when Scootaloo and Spike fly in and pluck them away. Oh, and a humanoid pinata with a green featureless face mask would have to feature prominently.)
(... don't look at me that way, I'm not going to write it. I have other things to work on...)
Im pretty sure FoME's contest is a big part of it.
I swear I had no idea that the contest would lead to this kind of wonderful insanity. Especially not Princess Cadance's Official Princess Harem of Imported Humans from Another World. I'm pretty sure even Skywriter didn't see that one coming.
Also, let the record show that I am one of the people looking forward to more The Prisoner of Zebra.
