High On Inspiration · 5:26pm Mar 15th, 2017
Inspiration is great. It drives my stories to no end, and in truth, is the reason why it may take some of my stories so long to complete or update. My greatest inspiration comes from music. Instrumental or non-lyrical music is such a complex story-teller, because what you think about while it plays differs from time-to-time. I have listened to the nastiest, most gangster-corrupted rap, and have thought up the sweetest romantic stories. I have listened to chill, relaxing dubstep, and have managed to think up the most spine-chilling horrors and gore-filled stories.
Right now, as I have been for the past few days, I'm in a particularly weird mood, where my inspiration is running on some type of high: I have so many ideas, but my mind is so sporadic that it can never focus down on one. Maybe it's because the music I listen to is so diverse, and the fact that I'm finding many new favorite songs of many different genres, but to put it frankly: the randomness of where my inspiration decides to go, story-wise, is very annoying.
I need tips on how to focus on one story or idea, before I go crazy and have more incomplete stories than I do hours I've lived. I wanna say I doubt anyone will even reply to this, but then I'll just look like some attention-vacuum. Oh wait...
Dude! So true! I have no idea how to help since I'm having trouble myself. my latest failed endeavor is trying to force a mood by listening to similar music.
It's dumb, and I'm dumb for trying it.
