IN WHICH I RECONSIDER OLD WORK
It's barely above freezing today. It snowed on Saturday. By the end of the week, it'll be short-sleeve weather just like it was last week. Welcome to the Ozarks, where we have four distinct seasons but those seasons tend to spend most of the year fighting each other for dominance. Thanks to my IRL friends having more important things to take care of, I'm going to be on my own this week, so I might actually start writing again. Or I'll just keep distracting myself with DuckTales and/or anime.
I'm in the unenviable position of having no fewer than three stories on my plate – A Sunset+Rarity one-shot to follow their Burrito story no one read, an experimental Twilight story inspired by one of the worst writers on this site, and my multichapter Anon-A-Miss story which is requiring me to basically rewrite Ted Anderson's script in prose form (and fix his continuity errors) so I can better pick & choose which parts to flash back to when needed – the flashbacks I have in there now are way too long and hurt the flow. I've had this story planned for over a year so I'm putting in effort.
In addition, watcher Mugen Kagemaru reminded me that there is one part of my scrapped Pinkamena story that could be published on its own with minimal rewriting -- Rarity's past with Applejack. Once I clear my plate of the above stories, I think I will clean it up and unleash it on the world. I guess I've got my work cut out for me. Stay tuned!
4455223 - I know you'd like to see the whole thing. Part of me wants to share more than just snippets of old writing and broad synopses. However, this bit in particular can easily be posted separately of any of the other 65,000+ words of that story, as it doesn't need to involve Pinkie at all. Its frame story was Rarity explaining her past to Pinkie as an object lesson in how not to deal with the Apple Family. It wouldn't be hard at all to write a different frame story.
Reworking the rest of P.D.P will have to wait. Stuff already on the table comes first. Maybe by then I'll finally have enough writing experience to give both P.D.P and my long-planned Sunset-centered murder mystery the love and care they deserve.
Looking forward to all of it. And for what it's worth, I read the Rare Sunny Burrito story, and my primary criticism is just that I wanted the scene to continue. Getting Sunset out of her apartment is a good and natural step; I want to see where Recovery goes from there.
4455473 - The meat of "Recovery" is over; Reconciliations was meant to end it. I'd already planned some post-Recovery Sunset/Rarity fluff… and then Heavy Rock inspired me to write one more Burrito story. Like I said in my notes, length-wise it's right in the middle (Sunset & Sonata are longer; Adagio & Aria are shorter), and I'm pretty satisfied with how the story turned out. But since you've requested it, I'll strongly consider writing another Recovery story after I finish the fluff. I'll have to update THE GUIDE if I do it, though.
Even though it's technically a different continuity, my upcoming Anon-A-Miss story continues some of the themes Recovery dealt with, and will fill in a lot of narrative gaps Recovery intentionally left open -- most notably, what did Sunset DO that made Flash so angry? I made it too vague in his story and should have put in a brief flashback.
