I have finally ...

I have finally found something produced by the fandom that I do not find any redeeming quality of. Bear in mind, I read (and enjoyed) the Tarnished Silver/Garden-verse series. I even fell in love, to a degree, with "Mistress" Rarity, and Silver Spoon (altogether, she's a cute filly). But even THAT dark AU is nothing to the one that prompted this blog post, my first:

Fall of Equestria.

The fics here on FIMFiction are a bit palatable sometimes - admittedly, I've only read Towan's Rainbow's Punishment, part of the Hearthwarming tale (did not finish as it just felt TOO contrived), and Princess's Diary. I have also perused the pics from this 'subgenre' or 'alternate universe', and while taking them purely as art I can accept a few of them ... the whole concept just seems like the more perverted, depraved, and utterly black souls that infest all fandoms came up with it.

While I can enjoy clop, and even have some weird and even depraved fetish-moments of my own. FoE is just too far for my tastes. It smacks of misogyny, reeks of sexual depravity, and just feels wrong. While the premise of HOW is plausible and thought-out, and I can applaud the world-building and some of the artistry; as a whole I find it deplorable. I have built gritty worlds in which "evil wins", played games in "dying" settings that depravity, self-service, and cut-throat behaviors ruled over many, and even myself have experienced the BDSM Lifestyle; but this is taking many things I can enjoy and dialing so far past the limits of enjoyable and "good taste" (yes, even clop has a level of "good taste") that I just cannot support it as a whole.

If I find something I like in it, such as Rainbow's Punishment (despite it breaking Dash and making her into a broodmare for monstrous warbeasts in some weird hentai anime "Bad End" that she enjoys - it's made to feel like an actual KINDNESS by the warbeasts being more loving and gentle with her than Soarin or other males), or the Princess's Diary (for it's world-building and some of the artful and inventive uses of actual BDSM practices) ... I might look at the whole a bit more leniently.

So, in summation, even if I did not fave, follow, or like any of the fics I read; it's because I felt that while it may have had some enjoyable parts, it's not my thing. I will not downvote or comment on something I did not actually give a full chance. That's not fair to the author, the fanbase of that AU, and to others that might run across it and might enjoy it for their own reasons.
