Disney XD Reveals First Sneak Peek at Duck Tales · 6:32pm Mar 2nd, 2017

I have notes.

So Duck Tales (Woo-OOO-oo!) is being done in the New Classic Disney style that the 2010s Mickey Mouse shorts are done in--a modern version of the earliest style of Disney animation and character designs. I'm not necessarily against this, but I'm not necessarily completely on board with it either simply because the Mickey Mouse style doesn't really lend itself to Duck Tales (Woo-OOO-oo!). Maybe it'll grow on me. We'll see.

What I don't think will grow on me are the redesigns for the Nephews and Webby. ESPECIALLY Webby. They just don't look right.

Voices...

Tennant as Scrooge is EXACTLY what I was expecting and I love him already. The Nephews are going to take some getting used to.

Kate Micucci is trying WAY too hard to be Mabel Pines as Webby. I'm not sure how that's gonna play out yet.

I absolutely LOATHE Launchpad's voice. LOATHE it. It's terrible.

Content...

So yeah, this is looking like Duck Tales (Woo-OOO-oo!) alright, from an "adventure" standpoint. It also looks like they're blending in a little Gravity Falls influence into the mix since Gravity Falls, well...biggest thing Disney XD has ever had. That's actually a plus mark from me, honestly--I want to see how well they integrate Gravity Falls style humor and mystery into Duck Tales (Woo-OOO-oo!)' beloved characters and wacky adventures.

There are some speedbumps here (some character designs, a few questionable voices), but overall I'm looking forward to seeing what the new Duck Tales (Woo-OOO-oo!) ends up looking like once we get a full premiere episode.

Donald´s suit being black and gold. Love the color scheme, as that´s my favorite color combo, but still, it´ll take some getting used to, as I´m too used to the classic blue and white

This seems like a waste of time I grew up watching Duck Tales and loved every bit of it. Now that they are redoing the tv show I am not really on board with this. I feel they should leave the classics alone and not mess with some thing that is truly good and funny as heck.

"Life is like a hurricane, here in Duckburg..."

I gotta say, I'm excited for this and definitely welcome the Gravity Falls influences!

I just hope that it was made be fans of the original show.

4441755 It seems to be made by fans of Carl Banks and Don Rosa, which is the best kind of background we could possibly get.

Plus the brief bit with Launchpad definitely comes from the old show.

4441748 Yeah, why should today's kids who didn't grow up in the 90s and have never seen Duck Tales before get a show of their own to enjoy? It's not like today's kids have done anything to deserve fun cartoons they can relate to and enjoy! Not like back in the day when WE were kids and worked HARD for all those free cartoons we got to watch after school, am I right? And how dare they put out a brand new version of a classic series! The nerve! I mean, the old Duck Tales is on TV all the time so it's not like they're missing out on anything, right? :trixieshiftright:

4441754 Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes! It's a! DUCK BLUR!

4441760 :rainbowlaugh: ok that made me laugh which I needed badly seeing as how I just butchered my last chapter with my Anon-a-Miss story line arc.

4441760
"Might solve a mystery or rewrite history! Ducktales, Woo-OOO-ooo!"

4441757
I seen all the old Disney show when XD Disney was Toon Disney.
do you think Disney will redo tailspin or the gummy bears?

4441763 Every day they're out there makin' DUCK TALES! Woo-OO-oo! Tales of derring-do bad and good luck tales!

4441764 Probably not. DuckTales is a special case. I wouldn't count out Darkwing Duck for a reboot though.

4441773 A remake of Darkwing Duck would make my day :pinkiehappy:

4441764 A Gummi Bears reboot would need a lot of care and attention --out of the Founding Four of Disney Afternoon shows (GB, DT, Darkwing, and TaleSpin) it's the one most likely to carry a long-running storyline, and the high-fantasy setting lends itself very well to, er, high adventure. But they'd also need to remember that it's a show about bouncy multicolored bears inspired by candy. It shouldn't and mustn't take itself too seriously or it'd lose its charm.

Now, TaleSpin. That was my absolute favorite Disney Afternoon show, and the tone was pitch-perfect back then, and the balance between pure adventure and workplace comedy was almost ideal, so if they ever wanted to remake it, they shouldn't stray too far from the formula. But I'd love to see it updated to reflect the aesthetics of its settings --declining art nouveau glitz with monolithic pre-war art deco at its zenith, with an animation style similar to Motorcity's. And the planes should get a lot of love, especially the Air Pirates' stuff.

Can you imagine the kind of fan-following Don Karnage would get from modern audiences?

4441775
Wasn't Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers part of the Disney Afternoon as well?

4441771
"D-D-Danger lurks behind you! There's a stranger out to find you! What to do? Just grab on to some Duck Tales! Woo-OOO-ooo!"

4441777 Yes, it was, and I absolutely LOVED it.

4441782 Every day they're out there makin' DUCK TALES! Woo-OO-oo! Tales of derring-do bad and good LUCK TALES! woo-OO-oo! Not pony tales or dolphin tales no DUCK TALES! WOO-OO-OO!

Ugh why don't I have Disney XD!? :raritycry:

Actually with me I kinda like the nephew's voices and it's actually Scrooge I have to get used to now. But I like that there's going to be more Donald in the show.

But yeah, the inner child in me says watch this.

I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OK WITH THIS.

I was interested by the video.

I laughed out loud at Launchpad being Launchpad.

David Tennant as Scrooge totally sold me on it.

Zef

4441777 D'oh! You're right. Make that Founding Five, then :p

4441827
Because Disney doesn't give much shits about their TV channel half the time.

While I understand why you don't like new Webby, let's not pretend the old one is a good character. I watched the heck out of this show, but whenever I think about it, I have to be reminded that she was there to begin with. What sells me on this version is that she might be the ONLY character in history of Disyney that gave any credit to Donald Duck. The guy has been through EVERY. SORT. OF. ADVENTURE. There is. And in universe, he's still treated as a joke. I'm biased, I love Donald more than any other character in fiction, and I instantly developed a bond with Webby over that simple comment.

I'm really looking forward to this. Please be good!

Having seen this...I have to admit, I'm interested.

Though given the redesign of Launchpad, and how much of a cult classic it was...I wonder if this show is successful enough, we'll get a Darkwing Duck reboot as well.

Having beaten Remastered a month prior...

I'm in!

4441967 That's the big question everyone's asking, yeah.

4442053
Oddly enough, I think Darkwing Duck would work excellently in this style.

I can get used to Tennant as Scrooge, but his pitch seems off to me.

I like that they're using the updated personalities of the triplets.

"Who's the evil one?"

"Louie."

Doesn't even rebuke it.

Yes, Webbie will take some getting used to. But was she even worth having on the old show?

Anyone catch Scrooge in Death Battle? A 'light day' ahead indeed.

I remember this from when I was a wee lass! :pinkiegasp:

4442062 Probably, yeah.

4442080 Hey! FF.net's being an idiot and won't let me reply to your review on Photogenesis. Just wanted to say glad you're enjoying it. XD

4442083 It gets that way, ugh :rainbowlaugh: But keep up your fabulous Miraculous Magic, I'm eating it up! :rainbowkiss:

While we should definitely be cautious until we see it for ourselves, just from this alone I think the reboot is in good hands. It just feels right.
Scrooge McDuck ain't no has-been!

Not a fan of the art style, it reminds me of the comics page of a newspaper... and not on a Sunday. Everything else looks great though. Voices, humor, extra emphasis on adventure (they had that in the original series, but it looks like it will be more of a focus now). Donald Duck being a legendary hero seems strange, someone should check Webby's sources.

4441748
4441760 I'm glad you came onto this My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fansite to explain why it is wrong to make modern remakes of old children's cartoons.

4442087 Thanks! Third chapter is partly written but won't be up tonight because I'm about 10 minutes away from a benadryl coma :raritydespair:

You know, I can get over a mediocre redesign if it means I get to enjoy one of my favorite childhood shows all over again.

Seriously, the entire time from around six to ten was nothing but Duck Tales and Chip an' Dale's Rescue Rangers. My childhood was fun...

Going into this, I fully expected that I wouldn't be a hundred percent on board with the voices. Nostalgia, what can you do? Still, after watching this, I can't help but actually be a little excited for this show. I'll be sure to give it a watch. :pinkiehappy:

After watching the new tv series episode or at least what these hacks are calling the new series which in itself is not new at all because it is a classic 90's tv show. I have to say I am not on board with this and really do hope that the show fails within two episodes maybe three.

4442257 Hey. Here's a little advice: When other people point out that you're being an asshole about something, don't double down on it.

Also, you're an idiot.

(Also, that was a sneak peek clip, not an "episode". Also, IT IS a new series. It is a new series of Duck Tales. Just like Star Trek: The Next Generation was a new series of Star Trek. Just like Doctor Who 2005 was a new series of Doctor Who. Get where I'm going with this, you gormless twat?)

Zef

4442257 It has already been signed for a second season :D

A Gummi Bears reboot would need a lot of care and attention --out of the Founding Four of Disney Afternoon shows (GB, DT, Darkwing, and TaleSpin)

Um, sorry, but Gummi Bears wasn't part of the Disney afternoon -- it was on Saturday mornings (or, at least it started there. I stopped following it around the time Gusto came on board). Because I was getting older at the time and entering that "too cool for cartoons" phase most teens go through, I believe Goof Troop and Bonkers were part of the Disney afternoons as well, but I didn't really watch them.

As far as the new clip goes, I'm trying to not be an old stick-in-the-mud about the reboot. Having three distinct voices for the nephews is strange, but it could grow on me. Whoever made the Webby/Mabel Pines comparison was on point, but there's a big difference between the two -- Mabel was always a main character, while Webby was a once-in-a-while occurrence. The new show runners should take a note from the original and keep Webby that way, because I can see how her character might grate on me after too much attention.

I'll be disappointed, however, if the Beagle Boys or Flint Glomgold don't show up at some point.

4442320 Glomgold either has to be voiced by John Simm or Peter Capaldi. HAS to.

I´m having high hopes for this

4442324 Capaldi....THE CONNECTIONS WOULD FRY MY BRAIN!! And speaking of Darkwing, do you think they might involve him in the future? They did crossover in comic form once.

To quote Tennant's 10th Doctor: I don't like it.

Sorry. There are things I'm too stubborn with when it comes to change and this was one of them. I prefer the old ones... I feel old by saying that.

Odd to see Donald finally getting his props for once. Scrooge seems rather reluctant to do so because somewhere under the bravado and bluster is a lonely old man filled with regret and longing and Donald represents everything that he let slip through his fingers. Casting a former Lonely God in the part just seems right. I just wish that for once, Donald did not sound as if he were drowning in a glass of water.
