Story idea contemplation b5/fim

I've been thinking about a Babylon 5/ FIM crossover for a while. However I have some issues with trying to cross them over.

Every race in Babylon 5 is a class IV or higher, Equestria is at best early on into being a class III planet. So they'd be completely useless getting involved with the shadow war, or any other major plot points from the B5 series. Though I would imagine a techno mage having a conversation with Twilight would be awesome it would just be one good minor scene in a story I can't make work. Let alone writing a techno mages lines...... Probably second only to writing Zecora lines in terms of difficulty.

So then the thought came to me, lets just throw someone from B5 into Equestria. But I started thinking if I just throw a human from that world into Equestria its still a HIE story. Just with a slight twist and really I don't see how it be substantially different from other HIE's other then being less good.

Then I had the thought, what if G'kar landed in Equestria? That can fit right into the B5 timeline as part of the time he spent scouring the galaxy looking for Mr Garabaldi. And he is a great character, and most importantly a curious one who would have many questions, and accept the existence of equestrians easily. Also it would be a Narn in Equestria not human, so slightly more of a twist, technically a NIE story then.

The major threshold I have to cross is getting 'pen to paper' so to speak. But I think there is a story here, and I'll never improve as a writer if I never write anything so going to have to cross that bridge sometime. If anyone reads this and has any thoughts feel free to share. Last time I wrote a good* short story was in 2005... For English class.
