Hey all! Short story and MN7 update · 1:29am Feb 8th, 2017

Just so you all know, I’ve not disappeared off the face of the earth, just there’s been some pretty awful events in the family in the last few weeks that have taken both my time and my mood. It’s difficult times, but we’ll make it though.

I intend to get back to writing soon enough. Frontier Six Two (the second short story, based on the backhistory of MN7) is partially worked on already, and its layout is complete for the full thing.

In the meantime, I’m still working on the “dropped concepts of MN7″ post to go up sometime in the near future. However I’ve had a number of people ask me about a lot of the minor characters in the story and what they maybe went on to do after the end. Some have professed an interest in a kind of “Fallout game” slide card telling of what happened to each character after the end of the story. I had considered one, but I wasn’t sure if it would be too much added onto the end of the story, drawing out the ending too much with extra info.

However I put it to folks, is this something you’d be interested in seeing still, “after” the fact? Let me know what you think, I’d be happy to do one, so long as I didn’t think it was going to affect the pacing of the end for new readers. I won’t leap to any conclusions and start doing it, I’m just interested to hear thoughts from others.

(It's unfortunate that I can't tag both my stories in this, oh well!)

You're asking us if we want more MN7 in some form, and you actually expect some people to answer "No"?

:rainbowlaugh:

Sorry to hear about the family stuff.

I'd be interested in seeing some sort of aftermath chapter. After thirty 20k, 30k+ word chapters that thousand word epilogue seemed comparably abrupt. Even if it's not about Murky and co., I'd be quite happy to learn more about "what happened next" for the others.

More MN7? Yes! Yes! Yes! :pinkiehappy:

Completely unrelated question here but are there any plans for a print of MN7?

I would very much like to see what happens to my favorite characters from MN7. Maybe there could be the occasional short story that touches on that. Not tied to the original story so that it isn't effecting that but still there for those that want more time with those characters. Those that survived anyway.

Another yes here.

I read MN7 in five days. I think that's a yes. :pinkiehappy:

That sounds like some fun stuff, would love to hear anything about the minor characters. One of my favourite bits of stories has been finding out all the little bits that don't exactly fit into the narrative. Makes things feel a bit more... alive, I suppose.

That said, take care of yourself first, whatever's goin on. You don't seem to need me to tell you that, but life has a way of mucking with things. That, and by now you don't owe us a thing - especially after wrapping up a story as grand as that.

Best wishes to you and your family, Fuzzy.

Dissenting opinion here - my instincts say a "where they are now" wrap-up to follow the epilogue would be unnecessary and maybe even a bit out of tone. That said, you have earned my faith in your storytelling judgment and ability. I'd trust you to leave it aside until you're satisfied it's done right, instead of releasing something just for the sake of giving your fans our fix.

I'm with you. I will donate money, and time if I ever find myself with any again, toward a polished up (and, ideally, official) hardcopy Murkbook.

I would love to see what happened to all the minor characters.

Completely missed this blog... Sorry to hear about the family, I really do hope that everything has recovered as much as possible by now.
But yeah, I would love more MN7. :pinkiehappy:
Who (of the people that have finished it) wouldn't want more?
