The fourth story has begun · 10:00pm Feb 6th, 2017
I have now just published and submitted the start of my next story, LEGO Equestria Girls 4. As I had mentioned a while ago, I had been undecided for a while on whether or not I really wanted to write another story. Now that the start of my next story is posted online, I am definitely going to do my best to get it done in a similar time frame as my previous major stories.
I ultimately chose to go ahead with a fourth story after I had seen Legend of Everfree a few times. Seeing the Main 7 obtain new magical abilities was really interesting, and I just couldn't resist trying to write how such a discovery could play out in the alternate Lego World. I believe I came up with some good ideas and plenty of funny moments that I'm sure a lot of you will enjoy.
However, my first impressions so far are not looking that great. I've only completed the first couple of chapters and all of them have taken me twice as long to write as I previously had for chapters of similar length. That could possibly be due to the first few chapters consisting mostly of filler material in order to get to the parts that I had better planned out, but I won't know for sure until I eventually reach some of these better planned chapters.
As I had previously mentioned, I didn't want to spend too much of my time writing a single story, so I had decided to make my fourth major story a bit less ambitious. Rather than stretch out the plot to visit lots of different new places, I decided to try to keep things relatively simple by going back to the main three Lego themes: City, Space, and Castle. With the way I've got things planned out at this time, it looks like this next story will have not quite as many chapters as the other major stories, and the chapters that I've already written are not quite as long as most chapters in the previous story, so it looks like I may be technically on the right track for what I was intending. It certainly is difficult to come up with my own idea on how to structure the story without any new Lego movies to draw inspiration from (I somehow doubt the upcoming Lego Batman Movie would work well for the characters from Legend of Everfree), but since the one I came up with in the previous story seemed to have been well-received, I'm confident that I can do it again with this story.
Lastly, I had mentioned in my previous blog post that I was considering writing a series of "bloopers" from each of my major stories, much like the blooper reels from Friendship Games and Legend of Everfree. I have decided to put that on hold until after I've finished the fourth story. If I'm going to try such a wacky story, I'd rather get all four chapters (one for each main story) done close together rather than just the first three and then wait on the last one for a year. And as for what else I could write after that, we'll just have to wait and see what's next for Equestria Girls this year before I make any further decisions.
I think that just about covers everything I can think of for now. I hope everyone will enjoy reading LEGO Equestria Girls 4.
