Welcome to my Weekly Gaming Blog!

This week's coverage: Dark Cloud 2 (final entry), Pokemon Sun, and Pokemon Shuffle.

Newly acquired games this week:
None

Dark Cloud 2

GAME CLEAR
Total Time: 69 hours
Georama Completion:
- Sindain: 100%
- Balance Valley: 100%
- Veniccio: 100%
- Heim Rada: 100%
- Moon Flower Palace: 100%
Medals earned: 158 total (125 spent)
Current medals: 33

WEAPONS/MAX: Grade Zero, Steal Gun
(Alternate weapons: Heavy Hammer, Wild Cat, Dark Viper)
WEAPONS/MONICA: Dark Cloud, Satan Brassard
(Alternate weapon: Cross Heinder)
RIDEPOD: Master Grade Core
Energy Pack (Urn)
Sun & Moon Armor
Nova Cannon III/Samurai Arm III
Jet Hover

And so the journey comes to an end. The final boss rush is kind of a slog, even though all the minibosses leading up to the True Final Boss are easy to kill with the Ridepod. The biggest problem with Dark Element is that once the final battle begins, a timer counts down, and you have to beat him before time runs out. It's tricky because he's only vulnerable to either Max or Monica at any given time, you have to pay attention to know who can damage him, his attacks are FIERCE, and he has one attack that makes him unreachable AND takes off at least half your HP in one go. I beat him with 15 seconds to spare.

Around June or July, I'll start the promised Let's Play of this game. For now, at least as far as console games are concerned, I'm moving on to Shantitty--err, Shantae. :moustache:

Pokemon Sun

So I made mad progress this week, making up for lost time in a big way. Here are some thoughts on the various things I ran into/did this week, and Pokemon in general:

- A haunted sand castle. Really. It was silly enough when we had living garbage and living ice cream, but now we have haunted sand castles.

- The Aether Foundation creeps me out. Something about them is just...off. Especially their leader Lusamine.

- In past games, I've gone out of my way to evolve every trashmon I catch instead of just catching their evolved forms later to pad out the Pokedex. I'm not doing that anymore, it's a waste of time. Any Pokemon I don't plan to use (like Yungoos and Gumshoos), I'm just catching both forms then trading them through Wonder Trade. Speaking of which, got two level 1 Rowlets this week in Wonder Trade! Traded one for a Popplio, so now I have all the Alola starters and that takes care of that.

- I've started using Island Scan now that I've mapped out two whole islands and bothered to look up a site with all the Alola QR codes.

- Cool thing that happened this week: Encountered a Cleffa on Mount Hokulani. Decided to throw a Quick Ball at it just to see what'd happen. Rolled a critical catch--ball shook once and sealed. :coolphoto:
-- Since this happened I've had repeats of the critical catch with Quick Balls on at least three other Island Scan Pokemon. Yay?

- Sophocles' Classic Game Boy T-shirt amuses me. XD

Game Freak's kind of painted themselves into a corner with the electric rodents. People expect them now.

Also, I like the haunted sand castles. Though I've admittedly never even found a wild one.

4388720 Really? I found half a dozen of them on the little strip of beach at that resort hotel.

From what I've heard, they've really improved the catch rate for first turn Quick Ball in this game.

4388821 I can verify this is true. My balls are fast, accurate, and deadly.

It took time but I caught a Beldum on Mount Hokulani

oh moth...talonflames been KILLED in this generation.

also that sand castle loves playing with others. you should let your small ones play with it:pinkiecrazy:
