That Was Fast · 1:47pm Jan 18th, 2017
Mission of Mercy seems to have disappeared from the Popular Stories bar faster than anything else I've written.
Who was that masked short story?
It did well with ratings, but few readers were interested in giving it a shot. It's difficult to know what readers are going to go for (unless you write obvious clickbait). I remain in the subhorsefamous genre where breakout stories are hard to come by, but this is the first time I've posted a large short story (as opposed to a minific) that hasn't drawn interest.
Anyhoo, four things are at the top of my slate right now, in descending order of importance:
finally updating Twilight's Secret Journal, which hiccuped at Bronycon
restarting my semipaused Android pony game
heavily rewriting my last Writeoff short story (which failed the cut)
updating Veneer with some new plot and direction
I'm so sorry.
I wanted to read that, but all the chapters were out at once, so I saved it for later. Maybe others did so as well.

Others have recommended to me that I post multi-chapter stories in segments, but this one was hard to do that with because each chapter blends into the next in terms of theme. Stopping in the middle for an extended time would lead the reader to a mistaken impression about the direction of the story (I felt).
I'll keep it in mind for the future, though!
EDIT: Also, there's no need for condolences! I don't care about the popularity, I just find it interesting.
Aw, but I really liked it how it was. Though, reading the comments, others thought it could be improved (Crazy people).

I think the idea and writing in the middle was fine, but it needs editing to make it shine. The feedback was really useful this time.
I think only one of my stories so far got into the popular list for a little while. I tried getting my latest one featured, but so far not much buzz. Just one of those things that's not really in our control I'm afraid.

You can sort of see the lack of eyeballs cause; the image doesn't grab at people, and there's no grand idea or description of puppy-content or comedy. Plus it was kind of dark and the topic definitely wasn't feel-good or anything.

Well, I like the picture at least. It's a flutterintrospectivestory, and that was the perfect image from the series to convey that.
It isn't everypony's cup of tea, I agree. I was just a bit surprised it withered that quickly.
