    Words for the dead.

I've made a few friends on here. People I think of outside this site. People who's conversation I value, who's name and face I know.

One of these souls is no longer with us.

Late in February TheMyth passed away from medical complications due to an infection.

Pre-modern woods. · 4:55pm Jan 17th, 2017

I thought some of you would find this video interesting. I like the idea that ponies cultivate the woods around them to harvest from. It gives the Everfree a bit more depth, to think this may be the only wild woods they've ever seen.

It probably also effects them on a primal level. They are not only a heard species but on that needs open spaces to move freely. An old wood would impede movement and deny them protection with how brightly colored they are.

Ah, that is a good video, and as you point out it does have some interesting implications for Equestria when you think about it.

4385961 Actually, if you look at the way ponies are built, they are definitely not evolved for open spaces the way terrestrial horses are. Their short, thick limbs with a wide range of motion and proportionally large hooves makes it clear that they are actually evolved for picking through cluttered terrain with soft soil or mud they can easily sink into rather than speed over solid ground. When combined with their bright coloration, that makes me think they evolved for the understory of a tropical rainforest or possibly a more open wetlands where bright foliage would let those bright colors blend in. It's also possible that they are poisonous and their coats are a warning coloration, but the presence of more dull coats and the fact that critters do try to eat the girls on occasion make me lean away from this explanation.
