    Words in print

Recently, I've been asked for permission by Avonder to include Whom The Princesses Would Destroy... in a story anthology he's putting together. I'm not one for hoarding words and I gave it quite, quite gladly.

    You'll find it here.

    Now(TM) with Travel Advice

I'm safely ensconced in my hotel room in Ludwigsburg. Hope to meet at least some of you. To increase the odds of this happening, I offer the following advice:

    Soon(TM)

I will be flying to Galacon 2018 in under twelve hours and I expect I will be safely in Ludwigsburg within 24 hours. I will be hard to contact during this period, though I think I've acquired a method of fool-proof Internet access no matter where I am (aside from six miles straight up, of course).

Hope to see many of you soon!

    Happy July 20th!

...or July 21st, depending on your timezone.

49 years ago the first manned Moon landing was accomplished. It is one of my favorite moments in history (To learn about my favorite you may have to wait for December the 9th), and to celebrate I've re-edited Hoofprints to be a little less... ah, draft-y.

ObabScribbler—star of words both written and spoken—has made an utterly wonderful reading of, perhaps, my oddest story: Twilight Sparkle Makes a Cup of Tea.

The reading is short and done with impeccable style and clear understanding of the tale, and I can absolutely recommend it. Take a quiet moment—or thirteen minutes, really—and a cup of something warm and enjoy it. Oh, and if you do, why not leave a comment to this effect over on YouTube? Along perhaps with the odd like, favorite & a subscription? I mean you'll only be encouraging Scribbler to read more fics and I think we[1] can all agree this is a Good Thing.

[1] By 'we' I mean all sentient lifeforms within ObabScribbler's light-cone, plus an unknown and possibly unlimited extra number of those with FTL capability.

(Now I'm off. 'Flu is trying to kill me and, in retaliation, I'm trying to kill it right back)

This reading was actually the first time I experienced the story because I saw it show up on YouTube and figured, "eh, why not?"

I certainly wasn't disappointed by either the story or Scribbler's reading of it. It certainly strikes a different tone from your Equestrian Civil service pieces, and you use that tone to great effect.

A absolutely beautiful reading, for an absolutely beautiful short story. The tone of the voice is just right, and the light and melancholic music is perfectly appropriate.

And my favorite line is done just right!

" Carefully, so very carefully, she puts the cups away for next time."

When you have the flu, it is best to read Moby Dick and think of the flu viruses as great white whales.

4 years and about as many significant life changes later, listening to this story still makes me go make some coffee, and plan to phone some people (time zones permitting, of course). There is just something about it that strikes a really deep chord with me.
