Should I change the dates of publication for "The Truth About Girls"? · 7:46pm Jan 7th, 2017
So that it wouldn't give me too much work by being published at the same moment than the unpopular (yet dear to me) "Only One Speck of Dust", I've started to publish my new fiction "The Truth About Girls" on Mondays or Tuesdays... But I wonder: are these the best days to publish a fiction and to hope it would draw at least a little attention? Of course, I prefer a few faithful readers with interesting comments than a lot of "invisible readers" for the sake of it, but that's a question I'm asking myself anyway.
What do you think?
I am sure you could look at some statistics and figure out what gets people's attention but honestly the biggest thing is type of story. That being said the type of stories that roar to the top are not ones that are usually actually great but are usually something that gets a group of people really excited. Clop stories would be one example. If somebody writes one of those with just the right angle on it people up vote it in droves. Sadly many more interesting stories have a hard time getting noticed.

Yes, I've kinda noticed that if you write clops, you have more chances to get popular As a member of the ace community, it's a genre that has very, very little appeal to me, and although I make efforts and try to include hints about sex or sexuality in my fictions (after all, sex is a part of life for most of the population), there's little chance I would write some real clop at any moment.
My SoarinDash One Shots aren't doing bad without even a kiss in them, but they're One Shots of less than 2000 words, so... I guess it's easier this way. In fact, I'm not interesting in being popular, I just want my stories to be appreciated and to do anything I can do so they can have at least a little visibility. "The Truth About Girls" is (thankfully) doing better than "Only One Speck of Dust", but maybe if I published it at another moment every week, it would gain a little more attention? Or it really doesn't matter at all?
