Is it Hoovesteps or Hoofsteps? · 1:42pm Jan 4th, 2017
Pony terminology is confusing. What's the alternative for "handiwork" or "craftsmanship?" Is there one? And if there is, are there more like this? Do we switch "hand" for "hoof" and "man" for "stallion" or "pony?" They seem like a pretty gender ambiguous culture--but still use "guys" as a way to call a general group, typically between friends. On the other hand--or hoof--they also have pretty serious gender roles. Hell, ninety percent of the male population is in the guard. Ever wonder why there are so few stallions in Ponyville? Because that's where the royal guard is pulled from! Only a few stallions get to stay in Ponyville, and probably for good reason.
Big Mac--family business, works the farm, makes up most of the profit when looked at objectively.
Shop owners--(i.e. Quills and Sofas, etc.) they do most of the consumer work in Ponyville.
Time Turner--could be seen as a shop keep, but I like to think he was kept out of the guard because of his... eccentricities.
Anyway, if you can name any other stallions that get to stay in Ponyville or any reason I haven't thought of yet, put it in the response section. Same goes for pony terminology.
hooves is the plural to hoof, you don't say feetsteps.
4369169 Exactly what I was going to say.
Handiwork shouldn't be changed, but I've seen 'craftsponyship' and it's not entirely awkward. Don't just find-replace without considering if the resulting 'word' seems to work , both written and spoken.
Besides the -pony words (which I've seen some stories have the characters correct to -one with non-ponies if they catch themselves), I've seen using 'hooves' in place of 'feet' (as in measurement), foalnapped (kidnapped), foalish (childish), foalsit (babysit), forepony (foreman), gentlemare (gentleman, with the obvious gender-flip), inequine (inhuman), madmare (madman), marefriend (girlfriend), and townsponies (townspeople), and all of those (except hooves/feet) are just from my Google Docs personal dictionary (mostly so they'd stop showing as misspelled.)
Edit: I seem to recall in the show the mane six mostly use "girls" when collectively addressing the rest of the group, and I believe Spike used 'guys' in Dungeons and discords.

So hoofsteps? And what about other human-specific words? Do some of them just not apply? These are the questions we must ask ourselves...

Okay, so I wasn't completely right... Thank you for all of these words, they'll come in handy in the future.
Also, for those who care, I wrote this blog at, like, six in the morning. I was probably a little loopy. I'm now well-ish-rested, so I think I've got a better handle on the situation, now.
