How Many Times Does Trixie Actually Say "I"?

One of Trixie's best-known traits in the fandom is that she speaks in the third person all the time. But does she really? Turns out, no one has ever counted the times she says "I." Until now...

Reference/Inspiration List for "Where Black Seas Lap the Shores of Dead Stars"

Rather than litter the author's notes with references in my usual style, I thought I'd try something a little different. So, for the curious, I've made a separate blog post of all the references and allusions you might have missed!

Hat Man Reviews: "Haze" by Bandy!

Haze is a story that is filled with big ideas: Cloud empires. Flying earth ponies. Ancient religions. Superpower-inducing fungi. Unfortunately, much like the mushroom-munching ponies in this story, this story might be biting off more than it can handle…

2017

So long 2016, hello 2017! (Plans for the next year.) · 1:02am Jan 4th, 2017

Well, I hope you all had a nice New Year's Eve/Day, and welcome to 2017! And while 2016 was a pretty rough year in general, I have to say that, personally, it was a pretty decent year for me, and you readers were part of that. Happy New Year!

Today I'll briefly explain some plans for the next year. Before I begin, though, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who read, commented on, and/or faved "Gadget's Gift," my recent holiday story. Without giving you the long story, I will say that it comes from a personal place when I was similarly unable to go home for the holidays. Thanks for all the support!

More after the break!

The Iron Horse
First and foremost, I plan to finish The Iron Horse. That should be no surprise to readers, of course; I'm sure many of you already know that we've been on the final arc for the last few chapters. (For the record, I am getting back to working on it now that the holidays are over. Once the next chapter releases we'll go back to the regular release schedule.) Well, there are several chapters more to go, and at the rate of one update every two weeks, I estimate that it'll be done sometime this spring. Related to that, some tentative ideas for related works:
*A story about Gadget, detailing her life before and/or after The Iron Horse.
*The much-discussed Equestria Girls chapter featuring Humanoid Turing Test. I've got a lot of ideas for this one, but until I've got a story that is worth telling, it'll have to sit on the back burner.
Both of these will probably have to wait until The Iron Horse is over, since I don't want to take time away from finishing the story to juggle other multi-parters.

Maybe someday, Turing.

Marble's Horizon Sequel
This one's a little less certain, but I am just incredibly proud of my entry for Everfree Northwest's 2016 contest, "Marble's Horizon." Several people have suggested that it could be the first chapter of a much longer story, and I suppose that's true. If it were to happen, it would detail what would happen on Marble Pie's journey across Equestria. It would work in an episodic fashion similar to The Iron Horse, as in having several smaller, somewhat self-contained arcs within the larger narrative.

Excited about that, Marble? "Mm-hmm!"

The "Bar Story"
An idea that's popped into my head as of late is the concept of a bar in Canterlot being run by an a calm, kindly bartender. There would be a few regulars, but guests would stop in and tell their stories, ask for advice, and get a tasty drink while doing so. Each chapter would also end with a cocktail recipe being covered. This comes out of my desire to tell stories that are not necessarily tied together and out of my love of mixing cocktails.

Hey, I've got to have habits other than pony fics and collecting hats, don't I?

Streams
Last of all, I'd like to do some more stream stuff. Greenfinger, my illustrator, still does his regular art streams every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5 pm Eastern (US time). We did a playthrough of Undertale last summer, but we'd like to do a few more in 2017. Maybe even invite a few more of you along to play, if possible. :raritywink:

Anyway, that's a brief summary of plans for 2017. Leave a comment letting me know what you think or any questions that you have. I hope you all are having a good 2017 so far, and that we all have a fantastic year. See you next time!

Would there be a sequel to the Iron Horse when you finish? I enjoyed it very much and would like to know an idea of what's to come whatever you decide. To me, Turing Test certainly earned a sequel or even a trilogy story, but it's your story, not mine. I hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Years. :pinkiehappy:

Happy New Year and that 2017 be better than the last year!

About The Iron Horseverse: around the spring? So it means that there time for more twists :twilightsheepish: And I agree with War-Torn Hero - the verse that you created allows a lot to explore! A story exploring both Gadget's past and future would be nice to see the aftermath of Iron Horse and what she will come next (My guess: high speed rail and communication satellites - maybe unite both with mass drivers! :raritywink:).
Take the time that you need for both the main story (awaiting the next bombshells!) and the offshoots (Turing definitely would fits in CHS - although SciTwi would go "Full Twilight" on her... if Sunset herself didn't! :rainbowlaugh: - and it would be interesting to see the discussions about Turing with people of a reality that is getting closer and closer of the Singularity...)

About Marble's Horizon's sequel and the Bar Story: both looks interesting and could work in a fix-up format (several one-shots forming a longer narrative - like Isaac Asimov's I,Robot) The "Bar Story" idea remind me of an anime called, fitingly, "Bartender".

Can't wait to see what is coming next! :raritystarry:

I'd rather not say anything about a sequel one way or another. That doesn't mean I'm undecided, or that it will happen, or that it won't. Saying either way definitively might cause undue speculation about how the story ends, i.e. either that there would be room for a sequel or there wouldn't. So, sorry, not going to say anything about that. :twilightsheepish:

The EG story is one that is possible, but I haven't decided exactly what might happen. A lot of folks have asked for it, so if I'm going to do it, I want to make sure it's surprising and fun. Sadly, even though I do enjoy the EG films, I don't think the last two are either of those things (well, maybe a bit) and not anywhere near as good as Rainbow Rocks, and I'm not certain if future films will be either. Kind of why I was lukewarm about doing EG in the main story.

Glad to hear you like the ideas! Hopefully at least one of them may come to fruition. Also, I might have to find that show. Hmm.

Well, I hope you'll continue to employ myself and your other editors after TIH is over. It really is a joy working with you.

4369333 Yeah, you guys are all awesome! If you're all willing, I'd be happy to have you edit some of my other work, esp. if it's Iron Horse related.

4369408 I'm definitely willing, so give a holler if you ever need me to! Or you know, just to chat :raritywink:
