[Rant] Is it wrong to not care about New Years? · 4:17am Jan 1st, 2017

Because I really don't care about New Years.

I'll try keep my ranting to a minimum (no promises), but don't expect a special New Years Day blog from me telling you to have a great new year and giving you a list of all my resolutions. Okay, yeah, you could give the argument that this is technically that blog since I AM mentioning New Years, but that doesn't change the fact I don't care about it.

Now, I don't HATE New Years; hell, if you like it then more power to you. But I just don't understand the hype behind it. Sure, fine: it's a new year and 2016 is gone and blah-blah-blah, but for me the turn of the year is just another night sleeping with my plush Crobat and snowman pillow. And when I wake up, I go straight back to playing Metroid Prime or breeding Pokemon like nothing ever happened.

Though I suppose you could count any day to be like this, the thing that sets New Years apart from something like Christmas or Halloween is how pointless it is. With Christmas, it's a time to get together with family and enjoy your day with them. With Halloween, it's a time to spooks and scares and going out with your Unicorn-clad little sister to steal candy from other people (even I, someone who doesn't really like Halloween, can respect that). With New Years, it's a time of setting resolutions that no one ever follows through with anyway.

Alright, so New Years has resolutions? So does literally every single other day of the year. You don't need a specific day to suddenly go "Y'know what? I think I'll stop smoking!" or "Y'know what? I think I'll stop drinking!" or even "Y'know what? I think I'll finally start taking baths!".

But having said all that, Happy New Years or whatever. SuperKamek out!

I'm literally sitting in a bible study with a bunch of what I could consider 3 year olds. I just want to play Pokémon moon. New Years does suck! ;~;

At a guess, it's supposed to symbolize a new beginning. For me, it's a time to make jokes about not seeing people for a year .

It's not a big deal, also happy new year! :pinkiehappy:

I agree. A day is as special as we make it. That's why I never do new year's resolutions. In fact I only use it as an excuse to pull a all nighter :rainbowlaugh: (almost 6am). Nonetheless, happy New Year.

I never really understood the hype of New Years as well. Which makes it really awkward because my mom seems really happy about a glass ball shattering for some reason. For each their own I guess.

I want to play Pokemon Moon too!
*pulls out his 3DS*
Now I'm playing it.

I suppose so. But any excuse to make bad jokes is fine by me.

Thank you! As to you.

My new year's resolution is fulfilling my new year's resolution!

...

...huh, that was pretty easy.

Ouch, the paiiiin!!!

My guess? One year closer to grandchildren. :rainbowlaugh:
(Not assuming your age or even you even want/have children, I mainly said that for joke value :raritywink:)

4364126 :rainbowlaugh: I think she's more interested in one year closer and I'll finally be out of the house. As for my grandma, I think she's the one who really wants great grandchildren.

I don't really care for it either
