Industrial Mining Corporation: Earth Division/ NSR Intelligence Report · 9:25pm Dec 29th, 2016

NSRN estimate as of last month...

Effective Battleline: 2,360 vessels.

Ships of the Line: 160
Superbattleships: 5
Battleships: 65
Battlecruisers: 90
Carrier Vessels: 305
Super Carriers: 10
Carriers: 110
Escort Carriers: 185
Cruisers: 475
Heavy Cruisers: 190
Light Cruisers: 265
Escort Vessels: 1420
Heavy Destroyers: 650
Light Destroyers: 870

Recommendation:
War is imminent, evacuation of slave camps on Earth is recommended to preserve company bottom line in case of invasion and attempted theft. Liquidation methods not fully actualized. Market unable to bare influx of sales. Suggest paradigm shift away from exploitation in favor of preservation of good breeding stock.

Additional Considerations:
Human riots doubled in past month. Unable to find source of agitation, have doubled down on beatings. Suspect information line off-world. Have begun purging risk employees.

:duck: I'm guessing the "Industrial Mining Corporation" is an enemy power that Aurora's country is at war with?

4361503 not gonna say you're wrong. I'm not sure about it's name though, need to find a good alien sounding name.

4361563

Hmmmm. Well, what kind of aliens are they? Are they like the Ferengi, except with more slavery? Or more like the Borg, all mechanical and efficiency-obsessed? (Rogue A.I.s?)

4361591 xenophobic corporatocracy. Like Ferengi's but less obsessed with money and more in superiority over others. They don't have slaves because slaves are more efficient than machines, they have slaves because their machines are "too good" for that sort of labor.

4361591 Fun fact, that ship count is based on the combined fleet numbers of ships during WWII, it was weighted a bit more towards battleships because Germany's Plan Z fleet composition had no carriers.

When you say "corporatocracy", does that mean their government is literally a corporation? And when you say "xenophobic", do you mean like full blown space Nazis, or are they more duplicitous (ie: "Oh sure, we'll get rid of the slavery, just sign the trade agreement. *3 months later* WORK HARDER SLAVES! WE HAVE A QUOTA TO MEET!").

4362438 xenophobic in that they view all other life as lesser, but are too money focused to kill what they would rather enslave. Unless they can get more money breaking you down into your base materials and just selling those.

They are basically a libertarian dystopia, individuals have no rights other than what they may buy. If you don't work, you starve to death and your insides are sold for a profit by your landlord, because every single low rent apartment complex on the planet forces residents to sell organ claim rights.

Hmmmm. You might want to look at the Teladi from the X-Universe for inspiration, as they sound pretty close to what you're describing. Some notable points:

* The Teladi government is itself a corporation, called "the Teladi Company". One simple naming idea would be to do the same thing with your corporate xenophobes, and make this group an arm of said government corporation. That way you could just call them something like "<species name> Company: Resource Extraction Division".

* Teladi are always looking for trading partners, as most races want nothing to do with them. I suspect your corporate xenophobes are the same; they'd have to be, to maximize their profits. Enslaving people is likely their backup plan, used only if said people refuse to deal with them willingly.

* Slavery is nominally illegal in Teladi space, but the rule isn't really enforced. And in particular, the Teladi police and military vessels are neutral toward pirates (who openly engage in slaving). Again, I'm thinking your corporate xenophobes probably operate the same way. They condemn slavery in front of other species, so that they can get trade deals, but are fine with it once their trading partners leave the room.

4364294 In general, they openly legalize and practice slavery.

Wanna hear a fun story about what the NSR does to slavers who don't surrender their slaves when confronted?

4364294 Also, just because you are super wonderful for actually reading one of my blogs, here's a treat (I hope it's a treat).

Sure! What is it?

4367304

Aliens bought 500 slaves (200 of which are human) to start their own breeding population of slaves.

NSR navy showed up, demanded they surrender their slaves, summarily defeated alien navy.

Aliens defiantly execute the slaves by venting them into space at the NSR fleet.

NSR navy meticulously evacuates alien civilians then proceeds to destroy every single station, ship, satellite, star-port, asteroid mine, starship production facility, and solar energy collector aliens possess. They execute all alien military personnel related to the running of the slave camp. The NSR navy shells the hidey holes of the politicians, CEO's, and aristocrats that ordered the execution of the slaves.

NSR leaves aliens to pick up the shattered remains of their space infrastructure, and pursues economic sanctions against aliens.

Don't f*ck with the NSR when it comes to slavery.
