"To be perfectly honest, Maple, it's a damn good thing Pumpkin Spice and I happened upon that copy of Twilight, Good Night," Carapace said as he ran a hoof through his messy blue mane. "Can't believe it's been so long."
A chubby changeling with rust-orange mane and matching eyes shook his head, careful not to disturb the stack of pancakes resting upon his back. "This is so you," he said, placing the plate before his friend. "How many times did I tell you about that story? And how many times did you reply 'oh, I'll get right to it after this thing'?"
Carapace rolled his eyes and picked up the syrup, ready to drown the defenseless pancakes in its sticky, sugary embrace. He stopped short, blinking a few times. "Wait a minute, no you didn't."
Maple frowned. "Uh, yeah I did, you dink."
"No way. Pumpkin Spice told me to get on it after we found the book last week. You were perfectly content letting me write about Thorax and SpitDash. Not to mention all the chapters for The Village Called Respite."
"I'm quite certain I did." Maple's left eye twitched. "I told you back in late September that it had been a couple weeks since you touched it. Then I kept reminding you through October." There was a beat of pause, he bared his fangs. "Don't tell me you forgot."
Tilting his head, Carapace wrinkled his snout. Had Maple really said something? "I ... I honestly can't remember." He looked down at his plate, wracking his brain for any hint of a memory. Anything would do. "Are you sure that—YEEOUCH!!" He clapped his hooves over his head and fell out of his chair, his ears ringing as if he'd just been hit in the face with a hockey puck again.
Maple stood over him with glowing green eyes and a rolling pin in hoof. His chubby face twisted into a mask of indignation. "So that's how it is, huh?" he hissed. "You'll jump the instant Pumpkin says 'frog', but if poor Maple mentions wanting to get more Twilight, Good Night, or pegasus worldbuilding, or any sort of shipping out of you, you'll whine and flop down on your bedpod like a spoiled little nymph and then forget all about it!"
Carapace forced a nymphish grin through the pain. "Would it help if I said I'm sorry?"
"No." The rolling pin raised again.
"Not in the face!"
Ahem. So, yeah. TGN is updated. Now, if you'll excuse me ... Gotta run!
