Rappin' Rodney Dangerfield (1983) · 2:28pm Dec 17th, 2016
Alan Metter directed this video for a rap-influenced novelty song co-written by J.B. Moore and Robert Ford Jr.; the same songwriters who worked with Kurtis Blow on "The Breaks". This came off comedy legend Rodney Dangerfield's album "Rappin' Rodney" (RCA AFL1-4869.) The accompanying music video included a cameo from Pat Benatar (i.e. the "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" singer). Despite being played heavily on MTV at the time of release, it got "no respect" from the general public, only hitting #83 on Billboard's Hot 100. This was uploaded to YouTube by Jesse Skeen, who says "this was from an 8-inch laserdisc titled "Hot Rock Videos Volume 2"- I have both volumes." He notes that "someone else uploaded this video before I did, but it was much worse picture quality with mono sound."
