How the heck do I write Applejack? · 5:13am Dec 8th, 2016
I'm going straight to the point: some of my stories (in one way, or another) Applejack is going to have some speaking parts. No biggie, right? Well, you'd be wrong because I have no idea how to write in a southern accent! And it doesn't help that my Mom is northern and my Dad's southern, so both accents sound the same to me. Trust me, I've been to Massachusetts, and I can barely tell a difference because of my Mom's influence.
Now that I think about it, that's probably the only reason my Dad can tolerate MLP, that and without AJ no pony would be able to survive (I'll talk about that at a later date. Maybe a future story?). And coming from a southerner, AJ's accent isn't too OTT, just thick. I would just write her like everyone else, but my northern half keeps me from bringing myself to do it.
Sorry this became a mini-rant, but I do have a lot on the subject. I'll spare you all the time. Actually, theres a good example! I write "You all" but if we were to talk in person, I'd say "Y'all". Just something to think about.
Thanks for letting me rant for a little bit.
