I haven't completed a single story on this site. Hmmm.
Well, I should amend that at some point, but for now, good news; Dragonfire shall have an update before the end of the year as a personal challenge I set myself because a) giving myself a good slap is the best way to get me to do things, b) a friend asked if I'd actually have another chapter out by the end of the year, and c) I realised from the last comment on the story ("more", to save everyone the effort of having to check) that new viewers are still finding their way to my story and liking it, and that I should be fair and provide them with content to read because I've had a year to do it. Other stories shall be updated in due course as well, including Generations, which shall be the first story I shall actually manage to complete. The biggest spanner in the works on my stories is that I tend to struggle to find the best way to convey what I have in my head to my intended audience, and I have to keep re-reading it to determine a) what actually sounds right in regards to what I'm mentioning and how and b) if the people reading it will actually enjoy it. For Dragonfire, I'm dealing with a monologue and long descriptive/narrative pieces that give a voice to character's internal thoughts, character development, and world building, some of which is subtle and some of which is more blatant.
Then again, it may all be as subtle as a mallet to the face and I simply don't see that until my fifth proof-reading. Oh well. That's why I check my work over and over again (even this blog-post was read three times over when I finished writing it).
As for my life, I'm currently enjoying a stint in Switzerland, and it's a bit different to what I imagined. Just as good, and just as expensive, but culturally not quite what I imagined. I've been itching to add more languages to my works anyway (anyone who knows me in real life knows that I have a fascination for languages and social and cultural workings), so this serves as some degree of research for Dragonfire and My Dark Descent, as well as whatever other literary pieces I cook up in due time.
With all that in mind, have an early Merry Christmas from me and a goodnight. It's late here, shoo. Pippington needs his ugly sleep.
