Daring Did Concept Art #1: Equestrian Royal Guard · 4:10am Nov 28th, 2016

Yeah, you guys didn't know I could do SFM, huh?

Unless you've been sneaking around my deviantART, that is.

What you see here are two uniforms for the Equestrian Royal Guard, which makes minor appearances in the fanfics as a benevolent faction. To the left is the ceremonial and peacetime uniform, worn during routine guard duty. It is essentially the Royal Guard uniform seen in the show. To the right is the combat uniform, worn during times of active war or on combat missions in which there is ample time to prepare.

Daring Did takes place in a revised version of AdmiralKew's Modern Equestria Project, an alternate universe where the level of technology available to the ponies has been pushed forward to modern times. The catalyst for this technological advancement is a war fought by Equestria 60 to 90 years before Princess Luna returned from the moon (this war will be explored in greater detail in the stories themselves). Thus, in addition to hoof-to-hoof combat, melee weapons, and magic, battles in Daring Did are also fought with firearms, explosives, fighting vehicles, and magical technology.

In the canon MLP TV show, stallions make up the overwhelming majority of soldiers. In Daring Did, the gender disparity in Royal Guards is around 55:45 to 65:35.

And just in case you're wondering, no, unlike other stories in the Modern Equestria Project, Daring Did will not be grimdark. While it will have violence, it is only up to the level of Indiana Jones or the Uncharted series and not, say, Fallout Equestria.

If you read the stuff above and didn't understand it, it might be because you don't know what Daring Did is. In that case, click this link to learn more.
