A couple more story items for anyone who wants them · 3:22pm Nov 26th, 2016
1) A human is discovered living in the Everfree, upon later investigation he (or it could also be she) has been living there several years, and has avoided ponies almost religiously. The human is discovered during a sweep against Tartarus escapees, or a changeling invasion, any really chaotic search and capture mission, so the Royal Guard aren't really interested in being gentle about things (frightened ponies do stupid things).
So the guard rousts the human out of his home, and after a chase, straight at the Element Bearers who have just finished fighting something nasty, so suddenly facing another monster chased by guards, they use the Elements on it and watch it collapse in a heap. Job done, muffins and cupcakes for everypony. The guard takes the creature to Tartarus, but Cerberus refuses it entry, it isn't one of his. So they lock the now docile creature in a Canterlot cell. When I mean docile, I mean they toss him in a cell, order him not to move and he just stands where he landed until he collapses in exhaustion.
Later, a Changeling shows up and explains to Celestia (and Luna) that it has been with the human for a number of years, and the human will die without it. The changeling can eat native plants and foods, then shapechange into a human woman who provides human milk for the human to eat. The human will starve to death eating native foods. While the changeling can't love the human, 'any more than you can shoot salads out of your butt', but it is very fond of it, and the pure concentrated love the human feels for the changeling has this changeling at near Chrysalis power-levels. Note, the human knows that changeling is a changeling and has no problem with it, loving it unconditionally.
But it is scared to death of ponies, and the recent experience with the Guard, the Bearers and the Elements have seriously heightened that fear (Luna just throws up when anyone mentions the human's dreams, think Nightmare on Elm Street, with no dying allowed and the Mane 6 as Freddy Kruger's meaner cousins).
I had an idea that Iron Will would be brought in as a consulting psychiatrist (yes, PhD in Psychiatry) and dealing with the human's phobias and aphasia (loss of voice).
2) Rather than separate the friends, as Discord did in his first appearance in canon. He combines them. Celestia, Luna, Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie, all share one body, and one mind. Which means any filters are off, everypony in the mind can hear what anypony else thinks. If Rarity thinks Celestia's mane is gauche, everyone hears it. The resulting body is more a winged auroch than a pony, a patchwork of the colors of all the members, one dark horn (Luna's) and one light horn (Celestia's).
Discord puts Cadence on the throne (and may or may not make Shining an Alicorn to help her rule) and lets the utter panic about the alicorn auroch provide chaos, and the mental arguments inside the beast's mind that only he can 'see'. Discord is content because either the friends will tear each other to pieces, or they'll all merge into one. Either they remain individuals with all their quirks and problems, or they fade into a single mass. For added horror Celestia and Luna's more powerful personalities force this fading to happen even faster. So it's fight for who you are and what you believe, or tolerance = assimilation. Cadence and the others are aware of the fading as the patches of color of the fading ponies grow smaller, and the winning ponies grow larger.
That's vaguely creepy and fetishistic, no offense. I've seen something similar work for the sci-fi classic Mother of Demons, but there it worked because the humans could eat only pre-digested "baby food" produced and horked up again by a local species of cephalopod. Equally disgusting and alien, but less of a weird porn fantasy.
I eat meat, I am made of meat. Obvious logic failure. I've been meaning to comment on that for a while.

Logic Failure: The other part is if you take care of someone, if you want what's best for them, and if you're willing to talk into the lair of your enemies to save someone, how can you not call that love?

Sensible of you. I honestly wouldn't read that. Not even because the idea bothers me, but because the idea of what Fimfic would do with that is what bothers me.
The "logic failure" is the part where if you eat it, you can't properly feel it, which is something that has always been bothering me about Cultural Artifacts. There is no real reason for that. As mentioned, I am made of human meat. I could easily eat human meat and have no negative consequences to it. I actually know, personally, people who have. Anthropology department. Don't ask. It's no big deal, just one of those things that have always been bothering me.
