Three years and a day ago, I decided to post some cards I'd thought up based on the Season 4 premiere.
Earlier this year, hawthornbunny created a searchable database of brony-made Magic cards, over half of which are now my creations. (When you make a minimum of twenty a week for that long and everyone else is focused on making an actual set, it's kind of inevitable. )
Apparently, I've now provided so much data that hawthorn was able to create my replacement: RoboFoME. If you like RoboRosewater, you'll love this monstrosity. It even does flavor text!
RoboFoME, you say?
SET PHASERS TO HUG.
Yep, worth my time. I really appreciate how Starlightest parts fast have fundamentality, and it's a neat trick that it never and is attacks you controller. It even comes equipped by more card for a players’ libraries!
Second try, I think I got a condensation of about 90% of the fanfic on this site.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
This flavor text is mint
A highlight:
Timberwolf Package Flakeshapering Vortex 1
Artifact Creature — Dragon Knight
Kicker 2UU (You may cast.
Skip this turn.
"Now I would burn juice."
—Pinkie Pie, Bearer of Laughter. Higher than what rock drops your hair, right Sparkle.
It seems to really like having multiple red mana symbols in the cost. 3 times so far I've had cards with RRRRRRRRR or even more in their mana cost. It has not happened with any other colors.
4316716
Everypony knows the red ones compile faster. (Don't tell Rainbow Dash, though.)
4316714 My favorite name so far is Scootagramatic Sidewinded Saddlebags of War. ^^
4316716 NO REFUNDS
4316794 Enchantment Creature — Aura Curserkerserkernautant Crab
4316795 I'm not complaining, I find it hilarious. Real cards don't have the mana cost 2UBRGWU
Edit: Or even better, 2WUBRGWUBRGWUB
4316841
I got one costed UBRGWUBRGWUBRG. It looked quite beautiful.
4316840 You can see something of the generation algorithm in these silly run-on subtypes. "Curserkerserkernautant" is a long portmanteau of "Curse", "Berserker" (two Berserkers, actually), "Juggernaut", and "Mutant"; the algorithm keeps latching onto word endings that it recognizes and "completing" them, not realizing that it's building up a massive nonsense string. It's also why it's fond of the subtype "Equipmental" ("Equipment" + "Elemental").
4316871
I think we have the first new keyword of the algorithm: Pink strike. I can only imagine what it entails.
Best line of rules text I've seen so far: Celestia was spell or ability
Best typeline so far: Creature Creature Creature — Ox Shaman Band
Best name I've seen: Contemplate Polymorphic Convalescending
This one is almost capable of independent existence. Almost.
Fan Cloakery Wrecking Reflexes 3W
Artifact Creature - Aura Curse
Targets few this turn. It gains flying.
T: Add X to your upkeep, then discard for each creature type with converted mana cost to the beginning of your library.
"I grew up structional one answer: yes."
-Rainbow Dash
Awww. My first card was gold, and I lost it.
It was like poetry.
And then an inspiring quote from Rainbow Dash, Element of Generosity.
Ah well, have some interesting bits:
Also, "Soarin the Wonderbolt denies strength in hygiene".
I like how it just... ponies.
.....Uhhhhhhhhh. I don't know what that means. I don't know if I should want to.
Ok I think I should stop
4316883 "Celestia was spell or ability"
Huh. That would be an interesting origin story...!
This is magical.
4316871 Okay, but then how do we keep getting all these Creature Creatures? I once even got a Creature Creature Creature
But does RoboFOME do episode analysis though?
Because it's kind of not a very good replacement for you if it doesn't do episode analysis.
RoboFoamy=Necron?
4316953 I think that's because it knows that "Creature" sometimes follows other words (eg. "Artifact Creature"), and it isn't smart enough to know that "Creature Creature" doesn't make sense.
4316794
Sounds like a magic item with additional awesomeness.
4316840
We need to get Rarity to fight that.
4316859
That's the sound of an Eldrazi choking on Vinyl Scratch's wubmobile, I believe.
Stress"Shine Larcenyapolis Zeppeling Sealed Potention
Creature Creature — Pegasus Herocodilemental Wolf Construct
wut.
I don't even
Hey! It makes grammatical sense!
Yes. Whenever a creature.
I wonder just how much of this reflects on FoME. Sometimes these combo-words just fly off the rails... but usually so does the rest of the content of the card.
"I was Fluttershy's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate."
I don't play Magic, but I still find this a lovely waste of time. I was going to leave it at that, but I think I found the source of Rarity's crab problem:
I'll just keep waiting for my own Incoming Catchphrasensory Splendorsening Epiphany, that is unless I pull out my Utterly Oblivious Maneuver and put on my Tiara of McBiggen while riding my Curserkerserkerocodilemental Horse.
And +1 to "Marshmelodramatic". I must remember that.
~~~
And I've had a thought. I know one or two of you have made a series of one-shots based on random magic cards. I am somewhat tempted to consider doing something similar with these random magic cards.
4317518
I was considering that myself, but anyone else would probably do a better job
4316926
A child of the Apples and the Blackblades? That's sure to make for an interesting reunion.
4316955
Aw, thanks. Nice to know that people appreciate my rambling.
4317024
Under no circumstances should you ever mix necrodermis and glistening oil.
4317518 4317625
I've thought about making cards out of RoboRosewater's unused titles, but making stories out of these? You'd either go deep into Dadaist surrealism or end up going completely insane. Possibly both.
Do it.
Also, one more for the road:
Intense Interrogationista Clique 5
Sorcery
Enchanted land card from your hand with they can takes describe its conveniently any land can’t be blocked creature your mana costs a teammate controller pays X, X become all attack each players can't be blocking of each time your controller’s hand: Target creature creature card. If you cast into his spell or abilities are for Celebrant Flock any number of your hand with power to each turn. If you control of turn. Target creature special target player, until end of the target creatures you reveal to the battlefield, except by them, the top card: Regenerator blocking creature you may cast. His final qualities cost to its converted mana cost. If that many across Equestria, if the coincidents untap and its other perform it at the chosen player drew since that cards and your hand, any number of its power.
Technically if you may activate this comes blocking its mana pool.
Caber Toss deals 1 damage deal that player’s next times, it countered by discards with it.
"No comes of Serenity in ever know."
—Rainbow Dash, Bearer of Generosity lies itself too afraid to keeping them.
4317804 I think I need to teach it how to be more succinct. It does tend to get rather wordy in the rules text. One problem with this kind of predictive algorithm is that it will just produce endless text unless you tell it to stop... but figuring out where to stop is the hard part.
4317804
The former quality I already posses to some degree, hence the serious consideration. I'd likely end up with both in the end.
I'm not sure how much parsing I would want to attempt before actually trying to write something out of it, nor do I know how exactly I'd want the card to influence which aspects of the story. There's quite a range of possibilities, from "Strange words on card make appearance in story" to "Story shares some elements with card, but otherwise is a normal story".
None of this is to say that I won't, of course...
4316953 4317050
My headcanon is that Creature Creature is RoboFOME's indirect way of noting that it is a changeling pretending to be a creature. The first Creature Creature I got had the perfect name (and great card text) to support this:
EDIT: Further evidence. Equipmental insects!!!
4316873
Among the phrases generated within the six-paragraph text box of my latest card pull was the sentence "Spend the battlefield." I nominate that as an early contender.
4319860
*gasp* Clearly Rainbow Dash is cryptically telling us that the creature's outward (or "surface") appearance is not, in fact, who she really is. Dash knows the truth!
Also, Lonely-Heartfelt Rant Facadeca"In Our Big is SO CLOSE to playable, other than the errant keyword.
4319860
I've gotten one or two creature creature creatures. I suppose those would be organisms pretending to be changelings that are pretending to be something else.
Hmm. Why does that sound familiar?
This is the greatest thing ever. If only Cardboard Crack could write a comic about it, then my joy would be complete.
4318038
Unless RoboFoME starts making more sense, I don't think the card quality would drop any if you just imposed a word limit on the rules (if you aren't already), as it already happily stops mid-sentence. It's the mana costs that trail off the card that I'd worry about first, though I can't say the some of those costs aren't justified. It does make mana harder to take into account for the stories, though.
I'm curious if/when FoME's new card posts are added to RoboFoME's pool of data?
4328470
It's not supposed to! :) I'm currently trying to improve the algorithm to try to predict more natural text endings. But yes, the next update will use more sensible word-limiting to prevent walls of text.
And if RoboFoME starts making sense, this is a sign that something has gone wrong, and likely means that we are all doomed.
I try to add them as soon they come out, but it depends on when I have time. I hope to have the next update out by tomorrow. Loving your creations so far! ^^
4328470
Update is live! The FiCG dataset is up to date with all the latest cards, and I have managed to improve RoboFoME's generation algorithm. It's now significantly less crazy (most of the time) and more reasonable about text lengths and ending sentences. I mean, it's still as cuckoo as a concussed camel, but it's more reasonable about it.
Christ that thing is funny.
