Weekly Death Blog (10/31-11/13) · 6:03am Nov 14th, 2016

Here are the notable deaths for the past two weeks from North America, Japan, and select parts of Europe. As usual, please see Wikipedia for a complete list of notable 2016 deaths.

Note: This blog primarily covers actors, writers, and musicians. With few exceptions, notable sports figures are usually not covered in this blog. Political figures are also not covered unless they are exceptionally noteworthy.

PLEASE do not call me out for failing to include this person or that person in the comments. If I haven't heard of them, I haven't heard of them. If my not having heard of someone you have great respect for upsets you, I'm sorry, but I know who I know and I don't know who I don't know.

November 1:
- Dave Broadfoot, 90, Canadian comedian (Royal Canadian Air Farce).

November 7:
- Leonard Cohen, 82, Canadian singer-songwriter ("Suzanne", "Hallelujah"), poet and novelist (Let Us Compare Mythologies, Beautiful Losers).
- Janet Reno, 78, American lawyer, U.S. Attorney General (1993–2001), Parkinson's disease.

November 11:
- Victor Bailey, 56, American bassist (Weather Report, Madonna, Lady Gaga).
- Robert Vaughn, 83, American actor (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Magnificent Seven, Hustle), acute leukemia.

November 12:

* Torgo died years ago. Who will take care of the place now that the Master is away? :applecry:
- Lupita Tovar, 106, Mexican-American actress (Drácula, Santa), heart disease.

November 13:
- Leon Russell, 74, American Hall of Fame musician and songwriter ("Tight Rope").

:trollestia:

R.I.P. Leonard Cohen :fluttercry: I always like this song.

4301627 I had that on there, but left it off because I didn't want to start YET ANOTHER FLAMEWAR in the comments. :unsuresweetie:

4301638 Kate McKinnon's rendition of it on SNL this weekend made me cry. Especially for the dual-layered meaning of the performance.
