The Story of Tonight · 11:09pm Nov 9th, 2016
I didn't expect this result to come to pass. I didn't want it to. I would be writing this same blog if my country was seeing blue instead of red.
If you're feeling victorious, feel free to celebrate. If you feel defeated and angry, it's okay. You can feel angry for a while, it just means you're human. A close friend is telling everyone that all we can do is love, I shall love but I will also hope.
So what am I hoping for?
I hope that all this anger and mudslinging would have been all for naught. I hope that I will be proven wrong in the coming years. I hope that this catastrophe of an election wakes everybody up to the failings of our electoral system and we can finally do something about it. I hope we can all finally relax and have a conversation instead of being at each others throats all the time and I hope we keep having these conversations going. I hope the mainstream media has its own reformation because certainly needs one.
I hope that the denizens of Bullshit Mountain and the people in blue can shake hands and find a prosperous compromise.
And I hope that Jon Stewart runs for president in 2020.
My children will not believe the stories I tell them of the last year and a half and what it all meant last night. But we should tell this story, remind everyone that this election happened, because those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Remember; the Earth Kingdom also fell. Let's not call this the finale of America, but the end of Book 2.
I will part this blog with 2 notes.
1. There will be a new story from me before the weeks end. The first one in a few years, regrettably life and responsibilities and non-pony related passions kept me busy. Hey when you're a dedicated cinephile and amateur filmmaker/actor that's your life. Plus I got a job at Target yesterday so I'll be a little more busy until the new year.
2. Here's a song from Hamilton to remember in the coming months.
Bye for now, keep your chin up.
