How to help an artist of any kind - for free! · 6:47am Nov 1st, 2016
Hey, you!
You love a particular artist, right? You follow them, read/view/listen to their work, upvote it, tweet it, etc? Great! Now, most people who comment on an artist's work say "great job!" Or "not so good". But sometimes, you get a comment that says, "this was great! Here is where you could've done better" or, "this wasn't your best work, and this is why".
Artists thrive on these critical comments. We can only grow if we get feedback from our audience.
If a painter goes their whole career without receiving useful feedback, they'll never be able to learn, or improve their work at a healthy pace. They may improve so slowly that they give up on painting entirely.
We need comments that analyse and criticise our work, so that we can learn to write funnier, more immersive ponyfics, or create more energetic music.
Artists need comments that tell us where we could improve, and where our best parts were. If you want to really, really help an artist, wether they be a writer, a graphic artist or a music artist or ANY artist, give us comments we can study, comments we can learn from. That is how we grow.
Thank you.
