I hate writing dialogue · 10:09pm Oct 21st, 2016
So yeah based off the title here I am sure it's obvious what I need to gripe about. I am horrendous at writing dialogue, or at least I think I am. I know it doesn't make any difference because I still write smut, but when it comes to my commissions I am doing, I am deeply worried about it. Hopefully I'll get better in time with dialogue. At least I know this, I can still write some pretty good stuff. Any thoughts or recommendations on how I can potentially improve my written dialogue, since it'd help me.
Just put yourself in the characters' shoes (or horseshoes, if that's the case), or get with a few folks, and let the conversation flow.
Tis but elementary, dearest Cobalt! Soon, thou shalt reach thine greatest potential!
4265662 That's definitely true but my issue here is I haven't watched the show in a few years so I don't do well with canon characters. I'd watch it but I've some mental barriers. Thank you though
4266004 Hmmm. I see what you mean. Well, catching up would help, but you could go with alternate dimension. Short of that, I would still converse with other individuals, if I were you. They can give you Canon personalities, without you having to watch the show in its (so far) entirety.
I'm not sure how much I've helped you, but I'll give you as much help as I can. All you need do, is ask.
4268801 You're too kind, thank you
4268978 No thanks needed. But, you're welcome at any rate.
One of the things I do before posting a story is go back and read it again in my head with the character's voices. Usually its a fairly simple fix thats way more effective than it sounds.
4274473 Yeah I learned something like that for editing essays and it works pretty well. Thank you though, I'll definitely see if that'll help me out
