First of all, today seems to be the anniversary of Discord's first appearance in the show. How awesome is that? 
So in honor of that, and because I was planning on posting this anyway, here's some of my personal headcanon for the Lord of Chaos. Some of it is more along the lines of how things would be in my epic Discord/Celestia fic if I was ever to actually write one.
He is omnivorous as in eats pretty much anything. Or more specifically he is a hypocarnivore, which means that he needs to eat meat sometimes or he won't be healthy. Gems are also part of his diet. And to make things more tricky for anypony he might end up living with (possibly against his will) he can't eat grass, hay or flowers (or other stuff along those lines). He gets upset tummy from them.
He doesn't like repeating the same tricks too often, though he might have phases when he does something on regular basis for a while. That is to say, I find it terribly boring and uncreative when fanficcers always have him do the exact same things he does on the show (cotton candy clouds and chocolate milk to be specific) like those are the only tricks in his sleeves.
(As a side note, "cotton candy" isn't a proper flavor. Cotton candy is really just melted sugar that's re-crystallized with lots of air mixed in, sometimes food colouring has been added to make it look yummier. So you can't have cotton candy flavored cupcakes or anything else, they'd just taste like extra sugar. The best you can do is add a cotton candy "hat" on top of the food item.)
He wasn't born the spirit of chaos and disharmony, he was made into one. (I won't go into details with this one, just in case I actually will write the fanfic one day)
He isn't/wasn't the only draconequus to ever exist. The race just went extinct sans him. (see above) Also, all the draconeqi were mismatched like him but they consisted of different animals each as in no two identical draconeqi existed.
He'll die if his magic is completely taken from him. If it's blocked, fine. If it's mostly gone but with bits left, fine. If all of it is gone? Slow withering like death within a couple of weeks.
He has never killed anypony (that he knows of. Surely somepony has accidentally died because of his chaos, but he takes no credit for that) and has no plans to ever do so. After all, death isn't funny or chaotic. (As a side note, remember that he eats meat? Yeah, he has killed small animals for that. But they don't count if you ask him. He draws the line on talking things)
He has a rather poor physique thanks to having used magic for everything for a good long while. So if he was to run he'd be exhausted very soon. He is quite strong though because of the dragon in him.
He can breathe fire like a good dragon. He doesn't do it much however because it's uncomfortable, bothersome, leaves a nasty aftertaste and is really quite the barbaric approach to things.
He can't breed with ponies. That is, normally. Of course with his chaos magic he could damn well make that happen if he wanted to; it'd be the epitome of chaotic if two radically different species were to reproduce despite it being impossible 
He is immortal and thus doesn't age the same manner mortals do. However, his appearance isn't exactly young despite him having gained his chaos magic and immortality when he was young. He just plain didn't want to spend forever looking like a young adult (that could be confused as a teen, and how awkward would that be?) so he let himself grow physically older until he deemed himself to look credible and someone that needs to be taken seriously.
If he had a cutie mark it'd be one of these:
-marionette's control bar (should be obvious) (has already been used in one fic I've read)
-golden apple (Eris mythology)
-a circle with eight arrows protruding from it (apparently a symbol for chaos) (has already been used in one fic I've read)
-a hurricane that actually spins all the time (unpredictalbe, out of the blue, can cause some serious havoc but it's also possible that it just threatens you. Also, spinning effect would be very unique and chaotic)
-a question mark (for his riddles)
(personally I'd probably lean to golden apple or question mark if I were to write a ponified Discord fic)
It´s really interesting, and I agree with almost anything, except for him being the member of an species (I think that Discord is one of a kind) and the fact of his reproduction
