Why do you write and/or read fan fiction? · 8:57pm Oct 14th, 2016

Eyyyyyy! Just want to post a blog no one wants to read again. So an interesting thought came to me this morning and I want to ask this question: what brought you to read and/or write pony fan fiction? You can share your story if you like, but I can tell you my story.

Back in 2011, I was a little more enthusiastic about My Little Pony than I would like to admit; today I am much more calm, though I still have my moments. Anyways, one day I was browsing YouTube when I came across a video that was a "let's read." The thumbnail was a picture of Rainbow Dash on top of Soarin as the stallion was on his back on a cloud. I figured it would be some cute little story. The person doing the let's read had some boring intro and talk about random stuff that I didn't care about. So I went to the story page instead so I can read it myself. As I read about one-fourth of the fan fiction, I realized I came across a clopfic (the story was on Deviantart and I had my mature filter off, so I didn't know at the time). Despite finding a pornographic story, I continued to read it and was very intrigued by how it was written; it was very artistic.

The story was written by Butterscotch Sundae. This person no longer posts here and I am not so sure if Butterscotch does anything elsewhere but here is a link to their account: https://www.fimfiction.net/user/butterscotchsundae

Because the story is mature, I will not leave a link. You can look for the story in question on Butterscotch's story collection. It is called "First Blush" (perhaps an ironic title for events that inspired me to write). Butterscotch had other stories that were explicit, but the wording is what made me interested (I swear that the clop aspect was not what got me wrilled up to read more).

But what inspired me more was how much fan art Butterscotch had. I don't like to admit being jealous for something because I normally am not. But I did want that. To have inspired others to appriciate my work. At this same time, I was doing Minecraft Let's Plays on my YouTube channel and wanted to stand out; to be unique. So wanting to inspire more, I started to write my now canceled fan fiction, "Melody for my Dear."

There is more to the story as to why my first fan fiction is canceled, but that is another story on its own.

So if you would like to share your story on why you are here on the fimfiction site, feel free. Otherwise, I hope you have a good weekend filled with events.

Peace out and freak out.
