Like the Season Five finale, I had mixed feelings about this one. Overall, I liked it, but it could have been better. Good premise, but slightly disappointing at places.
The Good
-The banter between Discord and Trixie.
-Creepy Chrysalis and not having her reform. Sometimes villains remain villains.
-The Changelings evolving when they discover they don't need to steal love.
-How they were able to get through the hive by using their heads and without relying on their magic.
The Bad
-The Mane Six, Spike, Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart all being captured and replaced off-screen without an explanation of HOW! The most powerful characters in the show being easily defeated just to make the NEW heroes look better or the villains look tougher... *cough*Worf Effect*cough*!
-The Anti-Magic-except-for-Changeling-Magic throne. I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner. They wanted to use Discord, but as they pointed out in the episode, he literally could wipe out the Changelings with a snap of his fingers.
-Like last season, the ending seemed a little rushed.
What I think they should have done was have a Changeling replace Flurry Heart. With all the love and attention she was receiving, she should have been the prime target for them. If Thorax was attracted to the Crystal Empire because of the love given off due to her birth, why not more Changelings? It would have also been a great reference to the Changelings from folklore. With only having her replaced, you don't make everyone else look so weak and/or incompetent while keeping your villain menacing. Instead of having the main characters defeated and replaced off-screen, have them go after a red herring. Chrysalis could create some sort of diversion, causing them to go and investigate while she would make her move on the Crystal Empire. Starlight Glimmer would catch on to the evil scheme and recruit Trixie, Thorax, Sunburst, and Spike(not Discord) to help her save Flurry Heart. Since they made a big deal about Flurry Heart in the premier, have her be the focus of the finale and bring it full circle. You made a new Alicorn character, make the most of it. Sunburst was Starlight's first friend and was important in the premier, so bring him back for some more screen time. Since Spike was the first to befriend Thorax, it'll be fitting if he was there helping his new friend and also befriend the other Changelings. Instead of some Deus ex machina from Thorax converting the Changelings, have the already established Crystal Heart do it. Thorax's love combined with the love and acceptance of everyone else could have powered the Crystal Heart and metamorphosed the other Changelings. While it would be a shame to cut out Discord, this eliminates the need to de-power him like in the Season Four finale.
Pertaining to the Legend of Spike, this finale ultimately doesn't harm my story. I try to keep my series as close to canon as possible. Since my series takes place in the future, I often have to go back and tweak some things whenever a major change occurs in the show (poor Golden Oak Library 
). Ever since Thorax was introduced into the show, I've been thinking of how to use him in my story. I had a feeling that at least some of the Changelings would be reformed by the end, but all of them except for Chrysalis is even better! This actually helps my story. I'll clarify it when I reintroduce Thorax in LoS: Dragon Quest, but the idea is that Spike destroyed all of the evil Changelings in LoS: Legacy. After having her hive turn against her, Chrysalis would from then on only produce Changelings that had no will of their own in order to prevent any further desertion. What Spike eliminated were no more than soulless drones that solely existed to serve their queen. Keep an eye out for Thorax towards the end of LoS: Dragon Quest.

No. I'll explain the difference between Chrysalis' hive and Thorax's reformed Changelings once I reintroduce him latter in Dragon Quest. I've been thinking of a new name for the reformed Changelings. Since they no longer need to assume a pony's identity to steal love, they aren't really Changelings anymore. How about Flutter Ponies like from G1?
