So this is my Monday. · 10:23pm Oct 3rd, 2016
It's payday, which for me means paying rent and bills and doing my major grocery shopping for the month. All of which went alright, even if by the time I was done at Walmart my back was killing me (I have a bad back; some of you know about this, some don't. No suggestions, please, I don't need armchair chiropractors right now.)
But Mondays don't pass without incident, and today, incident happened before the Walmart trip, which made me nervous for what Monday would bring.
What you're seeing above is the bottom drawer of my desk, my "all purpose" drawer. For three and a half years, that drawer has been an integral part of managing my everyday life (or just throwing shit in there to deal with it later and then never getting around to dealing with it). The one problem with it is that somehow, I messed up installing the rails, so the rail on the left side frequently came unaligned. This morning, while I was on the phone with my aunt, it came unaligned and I tried to fix it as normal.
And then the whole goddamn front of the drawer came off.
After resting up from today's errands, I cleaned out the drawer and put everything in a box, with the plan being to pull the drawer out of the desk to Gorilla Glue the front back on.
Raaaaaaaaaaaaan into a problem:
The drawer doesn't come out. I can't get the rail on the right to uncouple AT ALL, so it's impossible to actually remove the drawer from the desk entirely.
And gluing the front back on as-is is going to take some very clever, very sideways thinking that I'm just not up for right now.
So for the time being, I'm thinking of just saying "fuck it, it's a shelf now" and letting it go at that. Otherwise, tomorrow evening I'll make a second, more serious attempt to fix it.
I've never had ANY problems with a piece of furniture I assembled myself until I bought this damn desk, and every single problem has related to the damn drawers.

Well that sucks. I'd say we ban together to ban Monday's but then Tusday becomes the new Monday and so on and so forth. Well here's to having a better Tusday.
*Sigh* Mondays... *Faceplants on bed* Too much stuff to do... *Silently cries in fetal position*
Why not just say "Eh, who cares how it looks", borrow a power drill/screwdriver, and reattach the front of the drawer THROUGH the front of the drawer? You could cover the screw holes with faux wood stickers, or with your favorite pony/anime stickers...
Well, shelves are better anyway.
Yeah, I'd be more likely to just use it as a shelf if I were in your position.
