[Pokemon] Rockruff Evolution Corocoro Leak!!! (Plus, something extra special...) · 8:40pm Sep 12th, 2016
Corocoro is finally here, so let's see what Rockruff's new evolution will look like! I did a bit of research and discovered that these two Pokemon shown here are actually forms of the same evolution, which means different stats at different times of the day. Now THAT'S cool! Here's my analysis on the matter, so I hope you all enjoy!
Allow me to introduce...
Lugarugan!
This appears to be the daytime form. Solid design, but nothing all that spectacular. Don't get me wrong: I love this design! After all, this is basically the very first wolf Pokemon (Why first? Mightyena is a hyena, you guys). But at the same time I feel as if GameFreak could have done a lot better when designing this form. Though it already appears to be the more popular version of Lugarugan on Tumblr, so I suppose it all evens out in the end. Besides, I'm pretty sure I know where all of GameFreak's creative efforts went while making this Pokemon.
This appears to be the nighttime form. It also appears to be Spade from Freedom Planet. It ALSO appears to be where all of GameFreak's creative efforts went while designing this Pokemon because I love this werewolf-like design. I think I know what GameFreak was going for while making this Pokemon: it's a completely normal wolf during the daytime, but when night rolls around it becomes a ferocious beast hellbent on killing everything that moves. Rockruff on my team? YES PLEASE!!! I gotta do an updated Pokemon Moon team soon.

These are the latest Ultra Beasts revealed for Sun and Moon, and you cannot look me dead in the eye and tell me they AREN'T Ba'als from Bravely Default and Bravely Second. They are both labeled as UB-02, one being Beauty and the other being Expansion, meaning they are more than likely counterparts when it comes to Ultra Beasts. I'm honestly looking forward to seeing more of them soon, but take a look at UB-02-Beauty. I'm not saying this is a definite, but who does that look like to you...?
The similarities are uncanny, but it is a bit of a stretch. At least with UB-01 they gave enough information for us to figure out Lillie is somehow related to it, but no info has been given on UB-02... or both UB-02s, I suppose.

Huh, funny I just found something Pokemon related I wanted to ask you about and then you go and post a blog.
And I LOVE both those evolutions, they look frigging fantastic, nighttime gives me a Wendigo/werewolf vibe of sorts.
And as for UB-02 Beauty being the leader? Yeah that was my first thought when I saw the form, it's pretty apparent, still, I do like the potential for storytelling there.

Something tells me that Lockstin is right when he says Pokemon is going in a whole new direction now. I mean, we dropped the Gyms for the Island Challenge, we have deeper and much more involved characters, and now Ultra Beasts are a thing. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Ultra Beasts, perhaps one of a greater number, was the final boss of Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Indeed, and I'm actually all for that. Not to take a jab at Pokemon, I love Pokemon after all. But games do often get criticized nowadays for not changijg things up enough, which is an interesting dillema. On the one hand, you want to make a sequel different enough compared to its predecessor, but on the other hand, change it too much and it becomes unrecognizable from the original. I think the changes here are striking a happy mix between the two, enough changes so it feels different, but not different enough to be a totally new game. Which I like.
Personally I'm having Supernatural flashbacks.
First some things I heard about these leaks:
-Lugarugans form depends on when you evolve it
Daytime for the first and Nighttime for the second
-the UB02s are version-exclusive: Beauty in moon and expansion in sun (although I have no plan what this means)
Also night-lugarugan reminds me of Keaton
Expansion could be Gladion
And: I was just joking about Lusamine reminding me of Kill La Kill, but now I'm seriosly questioning if they go full KLK with the game
Hm, I'll use the day time one since I plan to get Sun. And for my post game second team I'll use the night one.

I actually did this analysis before watching the GameXplain video on it, so I had no idea that Lugarugan stayed that way depending on what time it was. Still, it counts as forms due to the fact they're the exact same Pokemon.
I also didn't know that Beauty and Expansion were version exclusive. I wonder if more Ultra Beasts are like this. If so, there will be different boss battles depending on which version of the game you pick up. And if that was the case, I can say firmly that UB-02;Beauty and UB-02;Expansion (I'm spelling them like Ba'al names, BTW) are not Lusamine and Gladion respectively.
