The Fault in Our Cutie Marks review · 8:52am Sep 11th, 2016
Hello there. Another week, another episode. this week's episode was a little "fun" to track down. Firstly, I wasn't able to find it on my TV. Then I came to learn that it had been taken down from Youtube, and finally It was really glitchy on DailyMotion. Thankfully I was able to find it on kisscartoon.com and the quality was decent. Anyway, This week we met a new griffon Gabby, who was a real hoot to watch (pun intended). it was interesting to see some more of the Griffon culture, if even just in a flashback. I'm seriously hoping that we see more of it in the future (particularly more of that creature that stole the griffons treasure). My thoughts below.
This episode was a pretty good little CMC adventure. We saw earlier this season that the Crusaders are having a good time helping others discover their purpose in life but this was the first time we saw them have to face a problem for which there was no complete solution. I honestly thought at first that the message for the episode was going to be just because something might be impossible it doesn't mean you shouldn't try and do it anyway. In actuality it was much deeper than that. It was about looking at what makes you feel good and that everyone has a purpose to fulfill and usually, those two are connected but it won't always be sunshine and roses. A very powerful message that really seemed to resonate with me.
Ever since I was in middle school, I've wanted to be a geologist. My 8th grade Earth Science class was where I discovered my passion for our earth and its systems. I guess you could say that that was the moment when I found my calling. When I began taking Calculus at my local community college, I seriously considered dropping that dream because it came down to my final in that class that if I failed I would end up pushing my graduation back by a whole year. Thankfully, I passed the class, continued on through the series and am now enrolled in a 4 year school. It honestly came down to me deciding to focus exclusively on studying for that final and ignore the threat of not passing that was looming over my head. A very similar thing happened in the episode this week.
The CMC were faced with a situation where they convinced themselves that they wouldn't succeed, but they knew that they had to at least try. They approached it like any other problem they have faced and in the end they were victorious at helping someone discover what they were meant to do in this life. That's about all for "Fault in Our Cutie Marks". Next time, what happens in Las Pegasus, stays in Las Pegasus.
