My problem, it seems, is that even in a world of unusual fetishes I am still a picky person. Despite diapers and their use being the second of my two big fetishes, (the other being girls clothes, jeans and shiny clothing especially) my fetish is very specific. As far as I can tell, for many if not most of the other writers on this site wearing and using diapers is only part of the overall fetish. Many other fetishes such as age play, regression, humiliation, spanking, sometimes mind control, and others take on prominent roles alongside diapers in many other stories.
For me I have absolutely no interest in any of that, and most of it is a turn off. I am strictly DL, no AB for me thanks. I wonder why this is? Perhaps because I have a very self-motivated and independent personality (that has been known to get me into trouble from time to time.) The thought of being controlled or “babied” by anyone is…deeply unpleasant to my way of thinking. Even acting like a ten year old is unappealing.
Anyway, it was in large part due to my frustration in trying to find purely DL stories on this site that I took it upon myself to become an author so as to satisfy my own needs so to speak. This is not to say that there are no other stories like mine around here, it’s just they seem to be in a definite minority when compared to the number of stories featuring the fetish themes listed above. Also I am not implying that these AB stories are bad, many are quite well written I’m sure, but they frustrate me.
You talk about many having a secondary fetish but you have one as well. It's just a very unusual one. That's the thing that always confused me; why do all DL lovers have a secondary fetish?
For me AB comes naturally as I am very dependent and submissive.
I however am not fond of age regression as I feel it lessens the AB angle.
4196650 Hmm, perhaps I should have been more clear that having secondary fetishes in general is not something that I am surprised by in the least. Rather, I am surprised by myself, in a way, that I do not share any or hardly any of the other fetishes that are commonly associated with a diaper fetish. Hence the feelings of frustration noted above.

I wonder how it began with you. With me the diaper fetish is simply an evolution on my AB fetish which comes from my childlike desires. Since that doesn't seem to be the case with you how did it start?
I know what you mean. I prefer any sort of scat in general, diapers included but not being my focal point, but the amount of "scat" stories that simply contain a pony just defecating and being changed out of their diaper, or just barely even gracing the line of scat and being marked as scat regardless, those stories heavily outnumber the ones that are truly scat and filthy. I understand that the filth side of scat is far more... Undesired, but it just bothers me how hard it is to find good scaf (like your stories.)
I myself dabbled into writing a few chapters on a fetish interactive on writing.com, which beanched into scat. But, having done that, I've realized I cannot get off to my own writings. It is odd.

Around 6 or so, of course I didn't hit puberty until I was 12, but I started wetting and messing my pants around 6 because it made me feel good in a way I couldn't describe or understand at the time. Now I know very well what was going on of course. Anyway, the concept of wearing a diaper didn't occur to me until I was around 13 but I immediately fell in love with the idea for no other reason than because it was a new way to express my already well established wetting and messing fetish. I think that is why the origin of my diaper fetish is different from yours. Mine is an outgrowth of the aforementioned clothes wetting/messing fetish. Whereas yours comes from your AB interests. This also explains why my diaper fetish exists completely independently from any AB desires. To put it another way, to me a diaper is just a very "fun" item of clothing to go to the bathroom in, nothing more.
I think this is why many of the ABs I know sleep well when wearing a diaper because it brings them a sense of comfort. If I tried to wear a diaper overnight I wouldn't get any sleep at all (I know, I've tried) because its purely a sexual thing for me, and I can't sleep when I'm horny.

Always makes me grind my teeth in frustration. Seriously, what a waste. If you bothered to go in your diaper why not enjoy it for an hour or five. With me it also started at a very young age, before my puberty. Somewhere around the age of 8 I think though I'm not totally sure. It went hand in hand though with the spanking fetish that came from my sadism (I also have an interest in BDSM). Diaper punishment stories are the ones that I often like the most though some can rub me the wrong way. Discipline is a key aspect of childhood as well after all.
One thing for me though is that I have no scat fetish and that is the thing in your stories that makes me uncomfortable at times, just how far you take the scat angle.

They are about the best for the money. Perhaps not the best overall, but to do better would cost twice as much per diaper. And they are very popular among ABDLs so you can get a lot of second opinions on them if you want.
You know, its funny, I never intended to write scat fetish stories and from my point of view I don't. I write diaper fetish stories where the very messy diaper and its contents play a prominent role. I usually find pure scat to be a little boring by itself. I honestly didn't expect to have several scat fetishists come out of the woodwork and praise my stories like they have, though its more obvious in hindsight. (Isn't everything?)
