Peace reigned in the land for many years. It lasted for many millenniums, that is until something changed. The high elite of three alicorn tribes began to experiment with the new magic they had access to. They began experimenting on the three base pony tribes, unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies.

Through the experimenting, new species began to rise. Through light magic rose the flutterponies, through dark magic rose the umbrums. After the appearance of these new breeds, they continued with other forms of magic. Through crystal magic rose the crystal ponies, through sound magic rose the sirens, through ice magic rose the windigoes, and through fire magic rose the ifrits.

Soon however the base ponies got tired of this mistreatment and many of them left to search for new lands. Upon this Realta took notice and became angered with the elite. Soon the crowns became involved and many of these elites were banished.

Afterwords however, there was a bigger problem. What would they do with these new species? Realta suggested watching over them and guiding them only when needed. So it was decided.

The crystal ponies and the flutterponies would be watched over by King Emerald Teal and his wife Queen Chrystal Laylis. The sirens and the ifrits would be watched over by Helios Quartz and his new wife, Nala Lapis. The windigoes would be watched over by Sapphire Amethyst. And finally the umbrums would be watched over by King Dracos Ryulong.

Simmered peace slowly reigned. There were tensions yes, but all wanted peace.

Upon the guidance of the alicorns that watched over them, the new species began to learn and grow. The sirens became well diverse in music, learning and creating new pieces everyday. The ifrits became incredible warriors, calm and powerful. The windigoes gained a vast intellect, that had only a few rivals. The crystal ponies became well diverse in structure and design, with the combined forces of the windigoes and the crystal ponies, their were able to create the first airships.

The flutterponies and the umbrums kept mostly to themselves. Though through knowledge given to them, they were able to bring the first signs of religion. The umbrums formed the religion called, iimananaan min alzzalam. The flutterponies formed the religion called, creideamh an solas. These religions were actually very similar to each other, however the major differing was that creideamh an solas was based on knowledge given by Realta, and iimananaan min alzzalam was based on books found in the ruins of Tambelon.

Many more millenniums past and then just fifty thousand years before modern time, two things happen, that changed everything. The first was the announcement of the first union between a dark alicorn and a light alicorn. The lovers were Morpheus Morningstar - who was the brother of Queen Chrystal Laylis - and Cassandra Eveningstar - who was adopted sister of King Dracos Ryulong. This news spread joy across the land. However years later darker news arrived when upon Morpheus mastering his dream traveling spell, he received news that his beloved Cassandra became ill.

This was dreadful, but it was upon this did an idea spark in the mind of Morpheus’s father, Kray Marbh Depression. Morpheus wanted a way to save his beloved, so Kray Marbh began in secret, the return to the magical experiments.

In particular Kray Marbh was fascinated by the flutterponies. Unbeknownst to several alicorns including his family, Kray Marbh began ponynapping and experimentation. Though at first the experimentation was to save his son’s wife, it soon became something else, as an obsession with perfection began to rise within him. Eventually through a long process he created a new species called, the changelings.

However he soon saw a defect in the design. Where the flutterponies were creatures of love, the first changelings were creatures of lust. Soon the remaining elite got a hold of some of the early changelings and took advantage of them, through either slave labor, or turning them into concubines.

Soon the crowns took notice to this and became angered with Kray Marbh, especially Emerald Teal, who saw the changelings as hideous creatures.

Ignoring the outrage of the crowns, Kray Marbh continued his chase to perfection. Soon he created the blueprints for what he called the perfect species. However something he saw within his own blueprints caused him to abandon them. He would never say why either, but they were hidden hopefully where nopony would find them.

Soon though he had other problems as the crowns declared war against him and his changelings. A war that would last for many thousands of years.

That is until something rose from the pit……
