This looks fun. I hope they use different designs and art for each story...maybe a Noir retelling from Rarity, or a colorful crayon background from Pinkie Pie. I've always loved these type of episodes, so I'm looking forward to it. But I wonder...

Usually they have a fourth unbiased character come in and tell it like it is, but I hope they don't. It'd be a much deeper friendship lesson if they have to work out their differences without that easy solution

Ooh! That reminds me a lot of a Powerpuff Girls episode called "The Bare Facts". Basically, the Powerpuff Girls save the mayor from Mojo Jojo, but the mayor has no idea what happened cause he was blindfolded, so the girls have to tell him how it happened through 3 different versions of the story. I won't give it away, but the punchline at the end is hilarious. XD
The format better be good on this episode. By the way, what are your thoughts on the Cutie Map itself? Just as an element in the show. You've already heard me vent about how much it annoys me, but it's kind of for selfish reasons. I want to ask a fan what they think

4167980 I don't really have a problem with it, but I feel like it's kind of out stayed its welcome. The map was a brilliant arc idea...but for season 5. Coming from season 4, this was a fresh new idea that worked well with the overall arc, but I kind of wanted something new with season six. I like the map, but I think it's time we move on to newer stuff.
4168002 It just annoys me, and paints the main 6 as more demigods than normal ponies. I know they don't like to act as such, but they know their status somewhat. It just bothers me, that's all. Then again, I think my reasons are selfish. Also, I feel like they're throwing the friendship lessons in your face now, and the cutie map basically screams "HEY! THIS IS A FRIENDSHIP LESSON! YOU SHOULD WATCH!" At the end, the characters basically state exactly what the lesson was and then their cutie marks glow. I mean, they did that with the diary and the letters to Celestia. But in those cases they weren't explicitly called to solve friendship problems. They figured them out on their own.
I also think it's weird how nopony else in Equestria seems to be able to solve problems between friends and/or family.
Is there a point in all that ranting, or did I just blab narcissistic nonsense again?
That's a pretty common plot for a child to teen focused show, have seen it a couple of times nowadays and experienced it myself lol.
I hope the writers don't controversially make AJ the liar all of a sudden, hope she was just deluded. GOODNESS SUGARCUBE DON'T LIE TO ME!
4168013 it's not that no one else in Equestria can solve friendship problems....it's just certain problems that need their assistance specifically. Otherwise, it would have been solved already. Yeah, the mane six are special, but then again, they always were. It's just a new direction the show is taking. But I see where you're coming from.
4168046 that's what everyone else says. I guess it just makes me jealous, hence the selfish aspect. If guess it's more apparent in EG where I don't understand why everyone can't pony up since the magic rules aren't defined as specific to the main 6.
I'd love something where something happens in EG and everyone ponies up. Something really epic.

Though it would be awesome if everyone ponied up. They are Canterlot High, after all. They've been along for the ride ever since the beginning.
4168076 This isn't new for me. This is why I made my OC pony up in my fic. I also like to think him and Fluttershy are bonded by the magic since they kissed when they were both ponied up.
I also came up with the theory of "theoretical elements" for my story, Loveliest of Trees. Here's the blog post I made on the details I came up with. And I also generalized the rules for the EG world where ponying up is like earning your cutie mark, just like they describe. "Showing your true self," is not specific to the main 7, again, so it should be like earning your cutie mark. Essentially, for my canon world of CoppermaneXFluttershy fics, this is how magic works in both worlds.
Kind of stupid when you really think about it, what I came up with.
I guess I just feel bad about myself and my accomplishments, or lack thereof, when I see characters like this. I don't know why. I know they're supposed to be better than others, but I just can't get over my own damn self apparently.
4168013 It's funny, I hate the map too, but for almost the opposite reason: I hate that it's a glowing hunk of rock that gives orders to the Mane 6. Celestia tells Twilight and gang to go face a dragon, that's kind of crazy, but she's Celestia, she's a wise ruler who has built a fantastic country over a millennia, they should listen to her.
A magic glowing rock says Pinkie and Rainbow Dash should go to Griffonstone. Twilight wants to go, and has actually studied Griffon society and culture in detail, but doesn't go because a magic rock didn't give her permission! I want to see the Mane 6 say "screw it, I'm going with my friends on this or that friendship mission, no matter what a stupid crystal map says."
