Weekly Death Blog (8/15-8/21) · 4:56am Aug 22nd, 2016

Here are the notable deaths for this past week from North America, Japan, and select parts of Europe. As usual, please see Wikipedia for a complete list of notable 2016 deaths.

Note: This blog primarily covers actors, writers, and musicians. With few exceptions, notable sports figures are usually not covered in this blog. Political figures are also not covered unless they are exceptionally noteworthy.

PLEASE do not call me out for failing to include this person or that person in the comments. If I haven't heard of them, I haven't heard of them. If my not having heard of someone you have great respect for upsets you, I'm sorry, but I know who I know and I don't know who I don't know.

(8/15-8/21)

August 16:
- John McLaughlin, 89, American political commentator and television personality (The McLaughlin Group).

August 17:
- Arthur Hiller, 92, Canadian-born American film director (Love Story, The Hospital, The In-Laws), President of AMPAS (1993–1997).

August 19:
- Donald Henderson, 87, American physician, smallpox eradication program director, broken hip complications.
- Lou Pearlman, 62, American record producer, music manager (Backstreet Boys, NSYNC) and convicted criminal.
- Jack Riley, 80, American actor (The Bob Newhart Show, Rugrats, Spaceballs), pneumonia.

August 20:

Also director and producer of the 1972 film "Man of La Mancha", itself inspired by (with a 1964 Broadway musical and a 1959 non-musical teleplay in between) one of the most influential novels of its day: the seventeenth-century masterpiece "Don Quixote" (full title: "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha") by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.

Admittedly, this is the work I personally know this particular person for.

Until next time...

Arthur Hiller

...I initially read that as "Arthur Hitler" :facehoof:

Rugrats was a neat show.:pinkiesad2:
