My 6-year writer's block is finally cracking

So...I don't usually do a blog post, not sure if anyone will ready it since followers are virtually non-existent for me since I haven't written any stories. That may start to change.

My 6-year writer's block is finally cracking · 3:18pm Aug 18th, 2016

So...I don't usually do a blog post, not sure if anyone will ready it since followers are virtually non-existent for me since I haven't written any stories. That may start to change.

I've been silent, reading story upon story for years now. I used to write and never finish stories. But what I just read....my dear sweet buttery Jesus....they didn't....and yet they did...

For 10 years, since late in 2006, I've been a fan of Bleach. I watched the anime faithfully, following the entire story. After the anime was sadly cancelled several years ago, I continued to read the "final arc" that was supposed to end, I don't know several years ago? They kept changing it. Regardless, I wasn't happy to hear that they were ending it this year. Then, it was in a few months. Last month, I heard it was August. The final battle was still going and they were going to end it in a mere 5 chapters or so??? That...seemed a bit too much to try and get everything finished in such a short span of chapters.

Long story short, the battle was done in probably the most anti-climactic way one could have imagined if they'd been reading it from start to finish, and...the last 2 chapters were okay, but the last chapter was just showing the main characters, featuring the two pairings I saw coming a decade ago and the next generation. So how do I feel about this??? Simple. Directed towards the author or person in charge of rushing this whole thing out the door like 90% of all video games past 2012.

I was waiting, hoping, praying that I would get a satisfying end to a story I've been sticking with for 10 years, a decade of investment. And I was repaid in the most piss-poor way. There were around a dozen characters that were neither mentioned nor shown after their last panels however long ago. The 10 year gap was thrown in last second, the way the villian was killed off was easily the most half-assed I've ever seen of anyone ever. But by far the worst was the fact that the "big announcement" that's been touted about for the last 2 weeks, was delayed for at least another week, the rumor going around though now is that it's a live-action movie. Nothing about the anime coming back to finish the story nicely, nor about questions left unanswered that COULD have been done in an anime movie taking place in the 10 year gap between the final battle's end and the epilogue (if you can call it that).

Though I'll probably never get an answer, . How is it that someone, who's written 686 chapters of a manga be so hasty and leave so much unanswered to the fans and readers of said story? How can someone spend 14 YEARS of their life writing a story and end it in such a lazy, piss poor way?? And give us absolutely NO sign or word of anything in terms of something that could be coming as a way of giving us the answers we seek? Was it too much for us to get a satisfying end? Should it have ended after the last major arc, wherein Ichigo lost his powers?? Or could there have been a way of making all of this happen the right way?

All in all, I still enjoyed Bleach. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the stories, the episodes, the movies, all of it. I just wish that the story's end had been handled better, as it deserved that final anime arc, it deserved that 5th anime movie that tied it all together, and maybe even take a page from Naruto and show the character's kids starting out. Perhaps it'll happen, but then again it may (or probably) won't. One can hope.

In closing, all I can say is this has shown me how a story as long as Bleach SHOULD NOT BE HANDLED. I've seen plenty of fanfic writers here up and leave a story unfinished, it happens. People have lives beyond this, and I get that. It's disheartening to see a story I follow be left hanging, possibly never getting that ending it deserves, that we as readers deserve. But when its a major manga or story that's 14 years in the making, comes to an end in a way that would make even the least talented writers cringe at how rushed it is? Well...let's just say this may have been the straw to break that camel's back that's been keeping me from writing. Here's hoping I get over myself and get into actually writing again.
