    Original Displaced story is available

I'm back for the second, most likely actual final time. I have no idea what the state of the site is or how many of the people following me are still on the site. I even have no idea what the state of the MLP intellectual property is, how Gen 5 turned out, etc. I'm here to signal boost my third book, which, as the blog title says, is based on the Displaced subgenre here on Fimfiction, but minus

    My final farewell

All of you who regularly read my blogs knew this was coming, but I'll state it again for those of you who don't. I'm leaving the site. Now that my latest story is completed, I'm officially tapped out of horsewords. Not only that, but my passion for FiM is pretty much dried up, so I don't have any real reason to keep hanging around here. Yet, at least, but I'll get back to that down below. I'll

    Leaving the site

I know I don't often give updates like this in my blogs, but as you can see, this is too significant not to share with all of you. I'm of the opinion that having a following of people, no matter its size, requires you to keep them informed when you make big decisions like this.

Indeed, this lizardman will be leaving Fimfiction.

Gender-bending in official media · 1:00am Aug 17th, 2016

Thor, Ghostbusters, Professor Layton, Splash, Ocean's Eleven...

Personally, I find this all to be quite stupid. Swapping a character's gender does nothing to keep the brand fresh, nor is it remotely progressive. If you want to refreshen a brand, what you need to do is introduce new elements that both stay true to its spirit and builds upon its existing foundation in a way that compliments it, something that gender-bending simply doesn't do. As far as being progressive in terms of gender equality, there's nothing progressive about simply replacing one gender with the other. True progression comes about from having both a given male and female working side-by-side, in tandem, helping each other out to the best of their ability.

I 'unno. Just something I thought I'd bring up. What do you all think about this recent trend in media?

I agree. On a personal note I disagree with the whole concept. But these are the times I guess.

I heard that some groups were pushing for a female James Bond in the next movie.

Let that sink in for a bit.

4153890 The studio isn't stupid. They know that doing that would produce a repeat of Ghostbusters.

But yeah, it's dumb that people are actually campaigning for this stupidity.

Lady Layton is actually Hershel's daughter, not a bent version. Level 5 isn't that stupid.

But otherwise, yeah, I agree. You'd be hard-pressed to find somebody in this specific community who doesn't. I'd also cite the original Metroid as being exemplary of the pointlessness of gender divisions. Samus is no less of a badass once the player discovers she's a she. If only Nintendo didn't seem set on letting her waste away, and on her 30th anniversary, no less.

I would agree with you on most of that list except for thor and layton. Someone already stated shes his daughter which is fine. Thor on the other hand works quite well story wise. Its not as though they picked a randome women to tale over the powers. Shes a long running character in thor since nearly the begining odinson isnt worthy but she is so be it. Would i like to see odinson as thor again sure but am i mad hes not no.

If you want more female role models, why are you promoting male ones that already exist? Make your own, for God's sake!

Commander Shepard, Laura Croft, Bayonetta, Sarah Lyons from Fallout 3, Cortana, just to name a few examples of girls that kick ass in video games.

Also the reason this site exists is good enough evidence.

Lady Layton is actually Hershel's daughter

I kinda knew that, but the motivation for her existence is pretty much the same as all the others.

If only Nintendo didn't seem set on letting her waste away, and on her 30th anniversary, no less.

You can't force creativity. At this point, Metroid would be better served continuing on in other media, like a TV anime.

Huh? Does it have to be James Bond? They could just as easily create a new female spy character with femme fatale characteristics and it would be less intrusive. Possibly more entertaining?

Nope, has to be a name everyone recognizes otherwise someone would have to think of something original and no one would see it.

The studio isn't stupid.

I beg to differ. They pulled Feig out to produce the new Ghostbusters movie, when he has made an epicly cringy video about how men aren't funny. Just think on that one for a moment.
