New Story: Ashes · 11:45pm Aug 8th, 2016
The first part of my sequel to The Knight and the Knave is now online:
With Princess Luna free of the Tantabus, Princess Celestia is ready to reveal an ancient secret to her sister and Twilight Sparkle: she is missing a large swath of her memories. Celestia has been unable to restore them by herself, so she will need the help of her friends to recover the missing details of her past.
Unfortunately, some buried things were not meant to be unearthed.
As an experiment, I'm releasing this short story in chapter segments over the next seven days. The initial chapter is up now, the second chapter will be posted Thursday, and the final two chapters will be posted next Tuesday.
Enjoy! Or, alternately, hate it.
Wait wut.
4139420 PLAGIARISM! BAN!
(I'm kidding, geez.)
4139937 ...I'm still in shock by this.
4139942 It's... it's a one word title.
4139962 Yes, I just never thought I'd read another Ashes. Typically, when I write I try to avoid already used titles if I can.

Ah, now I get it.
I wasn't aware there was another story titled "Ashes", but it's a single word, so I'm not surprised. Even in published fiction, identical book titles are common.
I don't think there will be any confusion unless one of the two stories becomes as popular as My Little Dashie. And it's a pretty safe bet they won't.
Ooh, I was looking forward to that one. The original twist to Knave was kind of telegraphed a little, but I still liked it a lot just for twisting the usual cliché on its head like that. "Always confident and in control" Celestia is boring.
