[Aberrant Harmony]: Important Question · 10:51pm Aug 5th, 2016
So I know I'm taking ages to write Disillusion. I do apologize about the delay.
Still, I wanted to ask.
Would you like me to publish it before I finish like I did TCARW? Or would you rather have me publish it when it's all done?
I have about 30k words written at the moment.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
Welll... some variables:
Do you want to be able to modify earlier chapters to be consistent with later chaps?
When you write the story, how long will it take between chapters versus how long do you want it to?
Is feedback on your story by your readers good motivation for you to write more?
I'm fine with waiting more, but that doesn't mean it's the best choice.
I'm leaning to waiting, though.
Yep, I honestly would like to see the story published right now. You did an amazing job publishing chapters of TCARW and it always made me excited to see what new surprises would come in the new chapters, so the suspense of waiting for the new chapter was worth it.
Mmmmm after it's finished.
This is a hard question, and one I faced with my own long-running story a while back. I asked people too, and the results were an even split.
My subsequent philosophy is that people can enjoy it either way, but if you choose to release as you go, you have to be sure that you can deliver updates consistently. I think that's a lot harder in some ways, because you can't really go back and revise if you need to. But I think it's more fun releasing chapters and getting feedback.
4134081 I agree with this statement. Also, it depends on how much of it you are comfortable with. If you're at, say, 75 percent finished (or whatever it takes for you), I say go for it. Always good to have feedback, especially if someone notices a spelling/grammar error or a chronological discrepancy.
I say wait until you're finished, or until you have most of it done so you can take your time writing the remaining chapters. Then you won't have to worry about missing a deadline for a chapter. But if you'd rather post it now, that's fine too--others have already stated the benefits for both posting now and waiting, so at this point it's really up to your preference.
