Apparently, This Is The Cutest Thing I've Ever Written · 9:00am Aug 5th, 2016
(Yes, this is another Digimon post.)
Ever since May 2011, my fan fiction has been exclusively pony. I've been posting my fan fiction online ever since September 2007, so I've been writing MLP fiction longer than anything else, so there's a milestone. I remember awhile back when knighty claimed that he was working on a new backend for the site, so we'd be able to post fan fiction from any universe, not just MLP. I haven't heard any developments on that in over two years. Anyways, with my success with Letters, my Cupcakes and Mistress Do Well alternate endings, and the occasional E-rated oneshot, my work is often praised for being either A. Hilarious, B. Deep and emotional, or C. "Why the hell isn't this canon?"
But never "cute." Why? Because I think ponies are cute enough on their own that I can't make them cuter through writing.
So during this Digimon binge that I've been on this week, I went back to Fanfiction.net, where I've been dormant for a year-and-a-half after I stopped updating Letters over there.
From September 2007 to October 2009, I published seven Digimon Tamers stories. I went back and re-read most of them, and you know what I found?
Most of them are absolutely cringe worthy.
But there is one. One that I remain proud of; my sixth story, Takato's Hatchling. It's an alternate take on the beginning of the season, where Takato receives Guilmon's egg before it hatches, and gets a crash course in parenting once it does. What do people have to say about that? Nearly every other comment:
"SooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOoooo oooooo CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!"
"Oh my God so adorable I can't even!"
"This story is so cute!"
"Squee! So cute!"
"Oh, this is just so damned kawaii!"
You get the idea. Had Brady read it last night, he agrees wholeheartedly.
So if you'd like see what I wrote before ponies, here's the one Digimon piece of mine that I will still willingly advertise.
Thanks for sharing.
