    300 views in three days!

I’m no longer very active on social media, so it’s been a while since I felt the giddy rush of affirmation! :rainbowkiss: But since I posted my most recent story it has gotten over three hundred reads in under three days and a whole lot of comments. So color me dopamine and serotonin flush!

Another year, another story (part deux)

I’m finally finding some more time to write. I was inspired to finish writing this story by Bicyclette’s Sci-fi Contest III, but missed the deadline by 40 minutes (as they say, read the fine print!)

By the way, I began writing this story almost a year ago based on some real life events that many of us share ever since COVID changed how the world meets. I hope you enjoy it!

    Another year, another story

It’s probably not the best thing that I need the motivation of a group activity (Jinglemass) and a multiple-day-off holiday to get me writing again. But this is where I am, and that’s how it is. I Hope you’ve all had a great holiday season so far, and best wishes for a safe, healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Is it foreshadowing if it happens in the past? Biggest chapter yet. · 9:04pm Jan 29th, 2012

I am finaly getting to those conversations that describe some of the history of Equestria and try to provide answers to some burning questions (well at least these questions were burning in my mind as the FIM episodes that dealt with the founding and history of Equestria were broadcast.)
1) why does Equestrian culture have so many parallels to Humanity's science, architecture, science and art?
2) are the key differences between the two realms due to the inner nature of the ponies, of was there a more active agent involved, I.e. immortal despot for life Celestia?
3) And what would be required for a ruler and civilization in order to build a utopia while eliminating the dangers so often depicted as the cost of Utopias?

So what do you think of my speculations so far? Any suggestions?

Not directly related, but another friend of Chatoyance, jordan179, was researching same field, even if from more earth-oriented angle ( I mean, for him political organizations as known on Earth served as basis for his analysis, but there might be other interesting ideas, never fully explored in our world, for example very idea of experimental history ...)

This includes listening to the complaints, pleas and other information from her subjects. She cannot rule wisely if she has no information regarding their desires. There are four obvious ways of doing this.

The third is through personal friends. Making friends in many provinces and walks of life gives her perspective on how her rule is viewed, and friends are more likely to be honest with her than are petitioners. The problem here is that there is a limit on how many real friends she can have at a time, and of course her friends will be prejudiced in her own behalf.

for me #3 is most interesting, not #4. Also, 1.8 Ponies/second not too bad if you are thinking as fast as computer {my own take on this was Celestia temporarily sailing between individual ponies much like Luna, so _their_ worries become truely her own... of course idea come from how multitastking was done on single CPU computers, but with added importance of feelings for live beings. Here on Earth it really easy to thrown away someone's feelings, convince yourself those were unimportant - hopefully in Equestria such thrownaway is not so easy, especially for most powerful beings, who probably engineered/tuned themselves, too.. at least at late stage.)

Thanks for commenting and including the link to Jordan179’s post. One of the great joys (at least for me) in fiction is indeed engaging in experimental history via what-if literature - even more fun is writing it!
