The sun and moon may have been parasitically linked.
The moon glows warmly as it transmits the life giving traits of the sun.
The sun dims from this transfer of power so much it gains a pale moon-like appearance and coldness.
The night lasts forever while still retaining the same 24(?) hour system: 12(?) hours of gently illuminating yet warm Lunar Night accompanied by the brilliance of Luna's Starry Sky, followed by 12(?) hours of cold Celestial Day poorly lit by the incredibly dim yet visually harsh Defeated Sun that only emits what spectrums the moon does not steal for itself.
Ponies now live their daily lives in sync with the life giving glow of Luna's moon while looking the gorgeous canvas of Luna's Night for guidance.
Celestia is daily brought into the sky before Luna retires to rest. Celestia is forced to watch from her prison in the sun as ponies stop their happy lives to take shelter in their homes from the relative cold of Celestia's uselessly dim yet harshly blinding Daylight that so obscures the starry night as the limited spectrum robs pony eyes of color and contrast needed to navigate the shadows of the Luna's Eternal Night,

I really wanted to thank you for both your comment on my blog request for help and all of those lovely likes and favorites!
I am most gratified by your comments on my Origin of the Rom series. I just posted another, ON THE ROADS OF EQUESTRIA.
This is as far as the series itself has gone but there are two more directly related ones that will be added soon.
Do you have a preference for which tale or series that you would like to see done next?

On a separate note, I loved your blog entry. Lovely idea!!
