4102219 and they changed his heat beam to purple, which makes sense given the context and theme of the movie. in some cultures, Japan included, purple has been considered the color of death, and Godzilla pretty much looks like the Harbinger of Death in this flick.

There's also Godzilla's previous versions; sky blue (the classic one) and red (spiral atomic breath). You combine those colors and what you have? Purple. That and the "burning" look of Shin!Gojira all evoque the character's most powerful moments.

I love the little pieces of symbolism. They tie the image together without overtaking it.

4102442 i just wonder how powerful the heat beam will be. since this is a more horror-esque Godzilla, i'm guessing it's gonna be desvestating, unleashing a shockwave that strips people of their skin or causing a massive nuclear explosion. my money's on the nuke.

I would guess an updated version of the original, causing things to melt instead of exploding, depicting a realistic atomic blast, like in Terminator 2:
