DA1 Update! - A Decision · 3:06am Jul 19th, 2016
Hello All,
Time has passed, and I have reached a decision. Thank you all for your patience, comments, and support.
Starting now, DA1 will be placed on a short, temporary hiatus while Part 1 is being reworked.
I do not expect the hiatus to last very long.
I have also decided that DA1 will NOT be split into multiple stories; that would necessitate too many changes for each story to stand on its own and would change the original concept completely. It simply isn't feasible.
Here is what will happen:
-Part 1 is being expanded and partially rewritten.
-Quite a bit of the Diaries and Journals will be included in Part 1 (and featured more heavily in future parts).
-Most (if not all) of the Acts in Part 1 will be split in two. This is done to prevent massive changes to future acts and renumbering.
What this means for you:
-Published Acts will stay where they are until Part 1's rewrite is finished. At that time, they will be replaced all at once.
-David's Journals and The Princesses' Diaries will also be put on hiatus and will be somewhat rewritten to match the changes in Part 1. (You can forget them for now.)
-If you were totally okay with Part 1, you could probably ignore Part 1's rewrite with little consequence and soldier on.
-After the new Part 1 is published, I will be actively editing forward. This may introduce a delay here and there.
How I feel about the whole thing:
I've always loved this story, that isn't going to change. Knowing that Part 1 was weak, even before publish, gave me nightmares (ok, maybe not, but at least heartache). However, this reworking is not the rewrite that it deserves. Unfortunately, I don't have the time, skill, or patience for that right now. What I can do is attempt to fix the parts that have always bothered me, and I hope that makes the story better for you all as well.
My heartfelt thanks to all who supported me through reads, favs, comments, criticism, and critiques. It is my goal to make David's Archives an enjoyable experience and to continue to improve as a writer.
Hopefully, I'll have a bit of content here and there for you to look at while the rewrite is in progress. I already have another commission of the OC from Act 8, Cherry Topping, coming down the pipes soon!
