The Brony Con · 9:35pm Jul 10th, 2016
Just as fair warning, I'm typing this out on a phone since I don't have access to a computer. Brony con just ended. This is the first one I had ever been able to attend, but I'm glad I did.
The con was fun, and while I wasn't there under my author name (Butterscotch Cream) I still had the opportunity to meet some awesome people.
Going to the con in conjunction with some recent, very kind letters encouraging me to write again have done a lot to get me hankering again to write. Finding inspiration in the right places had been a struggle for me lately.
I don't want to make baseless promises and disappoint people, but I do plan to take steps to get me back in the groove. I have too many unfinished stories, and some of them may stay unfinished, but I may be able to finish new ones.
Knowing what people would be interested in seeing would be good. I appreciate and am grateful for those who have encouraged me to write and who have told me the impact my writing has had for them.
So, writing will be on my mind over the course of the next few weeks. If nothing else, I'm going to take a page from a friend of mine and write little blurbs to get the gears turning. Not writing leads to more not writing, so that needs to change first.
Perhaps after a while of that I can refer to myself as a writer again.
You are a great writer. I'm glad to see you try your hand at writing more.
Did I see you at all at the convention?
I don't believe we spoke but it's very possible we were around each other, especially if you visited the writing panels.
Were you there under the name Zyrian?

Yeah. I hung around quills and sofas mostly. I have two colored skin kinda like my avatar.

Did you stop by Earthsong's vendor booth and buy a picture there?
I also went to the convention for the first time.

That's awesome! Did you enjoy it?
yes i did and wished that it didn't have to end.
I bought a bunch of cards, won the game this she had, and bought all of her Spike stuff

Then I saw you :) I didn't realize at the time but I was standing about three feet away when you got the cards.

We're you the guy I as swapping cards with?
Awwh. I wish I got to meet you. I love your writing.

I'm afraid not. I may have seen him too, though. I was just a bystander admiring her flame Celestia.
I plan on attending next year, and will probably be posting a heads up beforehand.

Alright. Hopefully I'll be able to meet you then.
It's great to hear you're returning to writing, and I'm glad you had a good time at BronyCon!
As for getting back into writing, there is something that I've done that's helped a bit. I don't know if you play Minecraft at all, but I do and it's possible in the game to craft little books that you can write in. So I built a secret library and the only rule I gave myself is that I can't throw away any of the books I write. It's kind of nice, I've found, to not have the weight of a full, blank text file weighing on me, and it's satisfying to write something really small and sign the book for good so I can't ever edit it. In-game anyway.
Well, it's good to have you back, and I hope writing comes to you easily!
Awww, sad to have missed you this year! Wasn't able to make it due to my training still ongoing, but hope to make it next year!

It'll be awesome to see you!

You know, I realize this comment is years late, but somehow I missed this when you originally posted it, and I feel horrible. That's actually a really cool method! I actually do play minecraft with friends occasionally (not as much as I used to though, time and all). I hadn't paid much attention to the books, but it's a neat idea to 'cultivate' stories like that. Though then I'd want to expand on them outside the game, heh.
