Yes, I am aware of how long this story has gone without an update.
However, I personally find it insulting when people post 'It's Dead' in the comments. Especially what I found today.
Look, I'm really sorry about this, but do remember that writing is a HOBBY. It's not my job. My job for this week is three doubles plus trying to help manage shifts in a store that needs an upgrade, but won't get one till later in the year. It's a frustrating draining experience.
When I get home. If I don't feel like writing? I'm not going to write. I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm saying that like anyone, when you come home you want to relax how you want to relax. If writing isn't relaxing, I'm not going to do it.
Honestly I've been tempted to start a pateron thing to help motivate me to write more, but then I feel as if I'm being an asshole. Putting my work behind a paywall, when it's been free this entire time. That doesn't sound fair to my readers.
So look. I'm taking a vacation at the start of August yeah? The current plan is to use that week to try and churn out a couple of chapters to Inheritance. At least get SOMETHING done as I'll have the entire week to relax. Hopefully all goes well.
As it is though. I've been feeling the itch to write, but frankly that little stunt makes me not want to bother with Inheritance right now.
Again, I'm sorry it's taking so long, but again. It's a hobby I'm not getting paid for, my REAL job HAS to be my focus. That's just how it is.
To be fair, very few stories on this site that take longer than a year to update are ever actually finished. From that, saying "It's dead" is just an observational statement, not a directed insult.
No one's forcing you to do anything, but honestly, holding a story hostage from all of your followers over the comments of one or two people is very immature.
So you are complaining that people are like your story enough to express regret that it appears that it will not be continued? That people still take the time to comment after a year and a half since the last chapter was posted and ten months since the last author comment? That your hobby has generated enough interest for people to care about it?
Yes, if a story goes without an update for 18 months, it's dead. You don't like people calling it dead? Then post a chapter. I promise you will be flooded with a wave of "it's alive!" and "it's back!" comments instead.

Maybe insulting is too strong a word. It's not the fact that comment was made. It's that they decided to make it in the largest font they could.

As I stated to the other person, it's not the fact the comment said "It'd Dead" Again, maybe 'insult' is too strong a word.
They decided to post 'It's Dead' in the largest font they possibly could, as if they were yelling at me for not updating.
I woke up feeling sick today and didn't need that.
You can say it's dead, or "I wish this would update" all you want, but when you put it in the largest font possible, that I find uncalled for.

I read actually several stories that took already over a year to write and are not dead.
